[Day 2, Midafternoon] Survivors...?

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko continued her search for threats, only taking a passing glance at the Gaijin that was being carried over. Her eyes were still taking glances at the driftwood for any sorts of discernible heraldry.

[Bayushi Usan]

Usan swam a few feet ahead, near the rope, "I was thinking of helping tow from here, that way we don't have to deprive the skiff of extra eyes."

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko's eyes suddenly move over to Rinzuki, a glare in her eyes. "Iuchi-san, what the hell did you cast?"

[Volsung]

There's no sign of any immediate danger. Whatever has pulled one of the corpses down under the depths seems content enough with that meal for now, and the man barely seems to have enough trouble with breathing, let alone trying to chew anyone's face off. Himiko doesn't manage to find much in the way of heraldry though. At least not any sort of heraldry that she would be familiar with. If there was heraldry visible among the wreckage they did not display it in a Rokugani fashion.

All the ropes looked secure however and the group was ready to start towing the survivor back to the ship.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Himiko's eyes suddenly move over to Rinzuki, a glare in her eyes. "Iuchi-san, what the hell did you cast?"

Rinzuki's attention remains focused upon the survivor.

"I asked the kami whether there were any spiritual afflictions clinging to the man's spirit." She glances briefly back to Himiko. "It seemed a more sensible solution than calling down a column of jade fire, would you not agree?"

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Alright then Bayushi-san." He replied as he gave the ropes one last look. "Lets get this done then before our friends over yonder start to get curious." Kaito then signaled the man to start pulling. With the bayushi's help pulling and me pushing it along while keeping steady it really shouldn't be too much trouble.

[Bayushi Usan]

"All right, here we go." Usan began tugging on the rope, pulling the plank as he swam back to the boat.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko's eyes suddenly move over to Rinzuki, a glare in her eyes. "Iuchi-san, what the hell did you cast?"

Rinzuki's attention remains focused upon the survivor.

"I asked the kami whether there were any spiritual afflictions clinging to the man's spirit." She glances briefly back to Himiko. "It seemed a more sensible solution than calling down a column of jade fire, would you not agree?"

Himiko's face scrunched up into what was apparently an I-don't-believe-you face. "So it was just coincidence, then, that the gaijin started gaspin' in pain right after ye were done whisperin' te the kami? Right, and I'm the daugher a' Hida."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"The gaijin was groaning before we arrived, Yasuki-sama, and I am sure he will be groaning once he is returned to the ship." She casts a sideways glance at the Crab. "Correlation does not imply causation."

[Yasuki Himiko]

The glare didn't dissipate. "Then ye shouldn't have any issue telling me what ye actually cast, then. I don't like bein' lied to." Himiko attempted to get big and intimidating, Damn her being pretty, it just made her look more adorable.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki raises an eyebrow questioningly. "Would you even recognize the spell if I told you it's name? I was unaware that you had received shugenja training."


EDIT: Should be Willpower, not Awareness on the roll, but it's the same roll for both traits. Oops!

[Yasuki Himiko]

"So clearly ye wouldn't have a problem letting us know. Even if I don't know, I can always ask Moshi-sama, can't I." the glare actually deepened now, and one could be sure that she wasn't going to let this go easily.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"Do we really have time for this, Yasuki-sama?" She glances back at the two bushi in the water, then looks back to Himiko as she reaches up to lightly touch the bushi's arm. "Perhaps there is something I can...do for you...at a later time, to prove my pure intentions?"

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko moved back as the Iuchi tried to touch her. "I don't... well... I'll... I'll think about it." The glare, at least, has gone away, though she clearly seems less than thrilled about the idea of dropping the subject.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"Thank you," she replies with a slight bow. "Please let me know what you decide."

Her gaze lingers on Himiko for a second longer than was absolutely necessary before turning back out towards the others.

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Just meet me at the foredeck tomorrow night after shifts are done. I'll have though somethin' up by then." She mutters the words, going back to looking for any potential threats.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"Whatever you wish, Yasuki-sama."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"All right, here we go." Usan began tugging on the rope, pulling the plank as he swam back to the boat.

As the scorpion started to move Kaito steadied the plank his own feet kicking to propel it forward as well. Hope those girls have good enough eyes to warn us if something comes.

[Volsung]

The board moved easily enough under pressure and aside from occasionally needing to either nudge some of the smaller debris away or go around the larger pieces of debris the way back to the ship was uneventful. Once they were at the ship they would have more than enough hands to ensure the man could be taken aboard safely.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Let's get him on board then." Said the mantis as they arrived at the skiff and moments later started undoing all the knots. "don't want to have to stay in this water any longer then we have to after all.
