[Day 4, pre-dawn, closed] Fishy fish

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Sure." He turned back at her. "You have done this kind of things before, right?"

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

She braces her rod between her seat and the railing so it doesn't go flying as soon as something pulls the line and gets up to help the Unicorn, "It's one of the first things a kid learns on the docks, even many of us samurai. If you want fresh food on a ship, you better learn to untangle a net. Or order a heimin to do it for you, but don't be surprised if they tell you they're too busy," she smirks.

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

He blinked. "Too busy? Now, I understand that if they have orders from your superiors but... that sounds still, bit..." Rebellious.

Iuchi was almost as seasoned as she was, having been used to the work as a way to kill time one one of his fathers endless voyages. Deftly his slender fingers sorted the net, little by little.

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"A ship doesn't sail itself and nets for fishing aren't a high priority," her nimble fingers, callused from hours training her bow, seem to have a life of their own as they work the tangles, giving her time to keep an eye on her rod so it isn't stolen by some intrepid fish.

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"True, true. But they should be at least polite." he muttered. "Do you think is good enough." He lifted the net upwards for her to see.

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"Oh they'll be polite about it, especially after that whole fiasco with Dageki," she looks the net over and nods, "Hai I think that'll do, it still needs to be mended but it'll do for now."

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Well, the Asahina... was careless. But what can you do. Some rules need to be upheld." he muttered. Dropping the net down, he took the oars again. "Would you be so kind and lay the net while I move us?"

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"Asahina-san is a fool if he really expected that letting Dageki punch him bloody would solve anything," she snorts in disgust. She casts the net, she was no expert fisherman but she'd seen it done a thousand times before.

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"I do not know all the details but... Well, the Asahina are peaceful lot. Mess, either way." he sighed as he rowed. "He's dead anyway."

"So, what you are planning to do, ashore?"

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"Never a good thing to lose an experienced soldier outside of battle," she shakes her head.

"First I'm going to have a nice bath, after that," she shrugs, and tacks her line, "Probably try some real Ivory Kingdoms food and explore the city a bit."

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Never a good thing to lose a life. But he knew what he did. And what it would lead to." he shrugged. "Can't be helped."

The man rowed slowly, allowing the Tsuruchi to lay the lay the net, moving the boat around in a wide semi-circle. "Bath sounds good. And food as well... Do you know if anyone on board known Rhuumal?"

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"No idea," she replies while she works, taking her time to set the net up right, "My guess is that at least one of the Yoritomo does and maybe some of your own Clan? I wouldn't count on any of the Crane or Lion to know it."

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Me neither..." the man chuckled. "Traditionalist as they are..."

Keeping the pace steady, he added. "Oh well, I guess I'll have to ask around then..."

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"Hai, if worst comes to worst you can always try hand gestures or speak very slowly," she smirks.

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"The speaking slowly probably wont do much...." The didn't stop the boat even after the net had been laid down. There was no reason to stay close and scare the fish away, after all. "Hand signs, sure. As long as I do not insult them by accident."

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"Oh? All the barbarians that visit the Isles seem to think it does," she giggles and settles back to work her line, "There's always a risk of that, even when you do nothing. I always thought you Unicorn had a secret technique that helps avoid that?"

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Yeah, it's called not being a cocky bastard." he chuckled. "No... we are just more open towards the people beyond. For example, my mother was not born samurai, my father married her from a tribes that live across the border. It's considered customary, as Lady Shinjo decreed that we should not inbreed."

"All is one, is that the Tao says. Gaijin, as barbaric as they may be, are just as much part of the universe as we are... We just know more about it... Though, to be honest, few of us knows what they know."

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"I can think of a few on board who'd have problems with that technique," she laughs, "I guess it makes sense to marry outside your family, just look at some of the Crane. But to go looking outside the Empire?" she shrugs, "There's plenty of men inside it that aren't related to me."

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Phoenix for example..." he sighed. "And the Lion, without doubt. And the Cranes... and yes, there is a reason you do not inbreed. Every Utaku horse breeder can tell you why that's bad idea." he chuckled.

"Each to their own. We married people outside the Empire for most of our 800 year journey. Though, seems that my father doesn't want me to follow his example..."

[Tsuruchi Kiyo]

"He found you a wife?" she asks without looking up from her line.
