Having run below quickly after Moshi-gunso's training to wipe down and get a quick cup of water, Zenko came back above decks and headed to the Map Room.
Before entering he stopped, knocking on the exterior door, not wanting to enter without permission.

Hoshi was right behind Zenko on this one, giving a polite bow to show she wasn't intentionally sneaking up on him. "Usagi-san, good afternoon. You seem to be taking to the seas faster than you think if you're ready to learn how to guide a ship." Or to guide it to the nearest chunk of land? She smiled internally at that.

Junpei arrived in rare form, that is to say a way that was rare, both his feet were firmly planted on the ship's deck. Joining the other two, he offered nods and bows to the both of them, "Konichiwa, Bayushi-san, Usagi-san." In truth he wasn't here so much to learn navigation as he was to see the maps. He'd heard the rumor about landfall and he couldn't help but be excited in finding out just where they might be after their trek thus far.

Moments passed into minutes before the door was opened. Uminushi gave them a slightly blank look before recalling the announcement for lessons. He ran an impatient hand through his hair but eventually gestured for them to come in. The Captain moved with a slinking grace back towards the map tables, "Alright... since you lot are here anyways, we're going to have a wee bit of a test to see how well you read current maps."

The Phoenix folded his hands into his sleeves and tried to look confident in spite of the wibbledy feeling that was suddenly growing in his stomach. Crap.

Knowing better than to just walk in, Jishaku knocked politely and waited to be called in to the map room.

Hoshi bowed politely to the non-flying Phoenix, "Good afternoon Isawa-san." She returned the greeting in kind.
When the door to the map opened to reveal the Captain, she honoured him with a deep bow before falling in with the rest of the gathering. She gave a few nods at the mention of a test, a lot of these training sessions were always tests to begin with.

"Come in," he calls as someone else knocks on the door. Uminushi waits until whoever it was enters and rests his hands on the table. He leans against the table and points at where they found the main debris field.
"As most of you know, this is where we found the wreckage. I want you to chart the most likely path the debris will take," Uminushi pauses and points a finger at a basket on the floor by a shelf full of maps, "Wax tablets are there, styluses in the first cabinet on the left."

Zenko looks like he's about to answer the Scorpion and Phoenix when the Captain invites them all in, and so instead he bows and follows the group in.
"Hai, Captain-sama." Zenko moves to the basket, picking up wax tablets for everyone and then setting them out on the table for them to pick up.
He looks to the Captain, "This means they'll be following those currents you mentioned last night?"

"Yes," he answers the Hare as he reaches down and taps on the map on the table. "Specifically the one's pictured here."

He nods, bending his head to look, before straightening and getting the stylus's for the other students.
On returning to the table, he sets them down near the wax tablets. "Does speed of the currents matter?" he asks, speaking the words that come to mind as he thinks over the problem presented.

Hoshi gave a quiet nod of thanks to the laid out material, taking a set for herself. She glanced out to the where the wreckage was found and the present location on the map, in her head already trying to find a few possibilities.

"The chart has all the information regarding direction, speed and strength of currents," he replies patiently as he runs a hand through his hair. "I'm not going to read it for you, if I did, it wouldn't be much of a test neh? Any other questions?"

"I have none Captain, I'm ready to get to start." Hoshi said simply.

He nods his head a bit. "Oh, I didn..I mean, uhm, no." He bends his head to examine the chart, eyes looking over the map and the symbols he's likely never encountered before, as he tries to understand what the different things mean.

Jishaku enters when invited and bows to everyone.
"Good afternoon Captain, minna-sama." With a nod he finds a place to sit and listens to the instructions. The Lion seems rather pleased with the activity and takes the tools with a look of focus upon his face. Carefully taking a look at the current chart he starts to plot the most likely route that the debris would take.
Once again he makes a fine job of it, so clearly this is yet another job that the Lion excel at! After a few moments to check his work Jishaku indicates that he is finished and waits for the Captain to inspect his work.
[One raise called; rolls 44]

Narumi was a bit later than the others and knocked on the door when she arrived. She politely waited for approval to enter.

Junpei scooted in as much as he thought was polite in an effort to absorb as much about the maps given to them as possible. He was a complete novice as this sort of navigation. The best he'd ever done was find land thanks to the stars, but, obviously...there were no stars, and that probably wouldn't help them in this case even if there were. So, taking the tools of the trade needed, he first tried to think of how to use them and then tried to plot a path in his mind.

Once it was clear that duty would allow him to attend the navigation course, and once the proper protocals for entering the map room were followed, Nobuyoshi receives the instructions on what today's assignment is to be. Not particularly confident in his map reading and charting ability from last night's class, he nevertheless takes up a wax tablet and tries charting the debris's course.
It wasn't a bad attempt, but he wasn't able to figure out too much past line of sight the debris would go.

Amuro no longer on duty also decided to try his hand at charting the path of the debris. He
carefully plotted (43, 2 raises) the driftwood and direction of the currents. His conclusion being only slightly more precise than his fellow Akodo. He nodded and was impressed at the younger man's abilities.
