The Hida was in the Armory fairly late, due to necessity. With the morning being on duty, he found his best time to oil his gear was right before going to sleep. The act of doing so was relaxing, as well, so it was going to help him wind down before bed.
He had his armor already in his lap and he was beginning to put a shiny sheen of oil to it.

Kichirou had in fact been at work in the Armory for a majority of the afternoon. Breaking only to answer the dinner bell. Still the Scorpion found himself unable to sleep and so it was that he found himself hauling his armor and daisho into his newly found workstation to attend to some personal labor and maybe lull himself enough to pass out.
Seeing the Crab had the same idea he offers Musasha a bow and a smile, "Good evening Hida-san, it appears we both had the same idea." he offers as he makes his way to an open spot and sets up his armor for a good cleaning.

Musasha nods, "It'll relax me and help me sleep, not that I ever have a problem sleeping. How are you handling your duty posting?"

Sitting himself down after collecting some supplies Kichirou's response is a crackling that moves from his fingers to his wrists to his elbows up into his shoulders and along either side of his neck and down his back as he grimaces slightly, "The work itself is simple enough. I sit in this very room and maintain the bows and make arrows with the supplies offered. It does stiffen up ones back and shoulders though." he offers with a sheepish grin at the display.

He shrugs, "I had my battle group jumping rope this morning. They are probably a little sore, too."

That got an attentive quirk of the Scorpion's eyebrow, "Are you to lead such a group every morning? I ask because I am not required to begin my tasks until the afternoon. If I could participate I'm sure the exercise and practice would do me good, anything I can do to increase my worth to the vessel after all."

"Well, we are ta help with sailing as well, but when we ain't needed, we are ta train for battle. As far as me leading, that isn't really my post, but I've taken up th' position while we have no specific orders. If you have no requirements fer duty, you ken join us, I s'pose."

"I appreciate the acceptance Hida-san. I have to make the best use of those more experienced here so that I can learn fast and be of use...ideally somewhere beyond the confines of this room." he offers with a chuckle. Honestly he didn't mind the task he'd been assigned, though it did feel a bit like he was being put out of sight and out of mind.

He nods, "I'm expectin' ta be one a th' first ta be boardin' other vessels after th' demonstration th' other day. I am takin' gettin' everyone ready fer combat as a top priority 'cause of it."
He begins working into a few of the deeper creases in the metal of his breastplate, "Gonna have ta work on th' siege machinery some, too. We need plenty o' people ready ta bring down another boat so boardin' ain't necessary."

"Sounds reasonable." Kichirou offers as he begins to work on the ties to his armor, loosening them so he can work between the cracks and behind the plates, "I think I'd be much happier in any ship based combat with a bow in my hands, the pitching of the ship makes finding my footing for hand to hand....shaky."

He shrugs, "Jus' need ta get more used ta it. Th' only issue wi' hand ta hand is th' fact that ya gotta get really close, 'n' ya might not be able ta do that."

"Which in turns means its even more advantageous to have a well supplied stock of arrows." Kichirou says with a small shake of his head as he begins to work on his armor, "The tactics of naval combat are vastly different to be sure."

The big man nods, "Th' only time we ain't gonna have time ta prepare fer battle is if somethin' evil from below crawls up on deck ta eat us."

His shift having just ended, Akodo Jishaku decided to head directly to the armoury to care for his weapons and was pleased to find his friend and sparring partner Hida Musasha had the same idea. Walking into the room he offers a bow to each of the men. "Good evening Hida-san, Bayushi-san. I see this is the time when all good samurai attend to their weapons." He smiles and moves off to collect his daisho, yumi and arrows.

Musasha gives a partial bow, "Only time I have durin' th' day wi' my duties is before bed. Take a seat and join us talkin' about th' generalities of bein' on a boat as opposed ta anywhere else."

Jishaku nods and sits beside the Crab and the Scorpion. He takes out his daisho reverently and begins to oil his katana. "Yes, I missed our usual sparring session. Although you would have found it rather interesting I'm sure. Sea Swallow is learning to fight. Well, Yasuki-san and I are attempting to teach him some jiujutsu."

He blinks, "Which one is Sea Swallow again?" He hasn't really gotten everyone's nick names as they happened, being a bit slow on the uptake of jokes. "That sounds pretty...insulting for a nickname, even by Crab standards."

"Heh, the Daidoji...Fuichi, the priest." He shrugs as he works on the blade. "No idea what a sea swallow is supposed to be. I figured it was some sort of flighty bird. In any case, he doesn't seem the type to take offence easily. Hope I wasn't interrupting your conversation by the way."

The big man shrugs, "It isn't interrupted, jus' put on hiatus fer a moment. An' I met that un. Hard ta imagine him fightin' wi' his hands, might break a nail."

"Full of surprises that one. Credit to him for giving it a go." He grins. "So how was your time on duty? Find anyone else to spar with? I'm on shift with our Ichiro, so I suppose we'll find it easy to fit in a few hours in the morning."
