[Day 1, Later Afternoon] By the Heavens! (Open)

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho sits up a little on her mat she lays on within the ship's sick bay before she groans and lays back down. A small tray bolted to the table next to her holds a cup of water that sloshes softly with the boat's movements, a few herbs and some food, though none of it looks appetizing to the Dragon maiden. She closes her eyes and sighs, trying to push the movement of the ship out of her mind through a little meditation. She kept like that for a moment before she sat back up, this time slowly.

The Dragon reached up, feeling her side, her stomach rumbling beneath her fingertips. She knew she should eat soon, but it was a battle of need against desire. She looked around the room as she sat on the floor, listening to the wind and waves outside. This was hardly her first day on the ship, but the sea sickness still came every so often. It was hardly a life she was used to. She thought a moment about the mountains, then slowly stood with a grunt. Laying there all day would get her no where.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi looked up from his breviary. "Are you certain you want to be getting up?"

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The woman looked over at the Crane with an even look. Even with the sweat that was drying on her from her earlier sickness, she seemed to push it inside her, internalize it. When she finally spoke she did quietly, barely heard over the creaking of the ship or the lapping of the waves. She bowed slowly as she did."Hai, Daidoji-sama, I am certain. I have been in bed all day, I..." She trailed off, leaning onto the table as the boat shifted, and she closed her eyes a moment. "I wish to learn to deal with this new situation. Arigato, for your concern."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi nodded slowly.
"There is no shame in acclimating gradually, but I respect your decision. Do remember to continue to drink as much as possible. I think you'll find that dry heaves are somewhat worse than wet ones."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The Dragon nodded again before straightening. Either her illness had passed, or she seemed to will it aside. "It will pass I am sure. My name is Mirumoto Itsuho Daidoji-sama, it is an honor to meet you. YOu are a shugenja stationed here to help the sick and wounded?"

[Daidoji Fuichi]

He smiled serenly. "I am. I am also Daidoji Fuichi. It is a sincere pleasure to meet you." A perfect bow, though he remained seated.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The woman gave no smile, but something made it seem she may be pleased by the introduction. "The pleasure is my own, Fuichi-sama. I hope that I have not caused you any trouble with my being here all day asleep."

She paused, looking around the small room. "Have you been stationed with the Legion long Fuichi-sama? You seem to have what they call your sea legs."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

"I have not. Actually, until very recently I was cloistered at Shinden Asahina. My family is one of sailors, though, and Fate has much to say on the course of one's life."

It was his turn to pause. "And you have been no trouble; others have taken far longer in their time."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The Mirumoto gave a respectful bow to that. "Arigato, Fuichi-sama. Being a shuganja, surely you know the power that meditation can have on clearing ones body and mind of troubles. I have found that centering my chi within my body helps me with many things." She hangs her head a little, letting her eyes flit down. "If perhaps I had more knowledge on herbal effects on sea sickness, and a supply of medicinal herbs to choose from, I could have done that as well. Unfortunately, sea sickness is quite rare in Dragon lands."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi frowned slightly
"In some cases it is better to let something run its course. Sea Sickness isn't so much a disease as a state of unpreparedness for a new reality. Your meditation is probably the best 'cure,' if there is such a thing. Medically, it's mostly a matter of staying hydrated."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho gave a small nod. "I am quite content that things seemed to have passed on their own without any need for magic or herbs. The oceans are a lot different under my feet than the hard rock of the mountains."

She reached over and picked up the water on the table next to where she had lain, taking a few sips before sighing. "Much better... though I think I will stay in here until later tonight. Your words ring with wisdom, perhaps I should make sure things have all run their course."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

The Crane bowed slightly. "And yours give me honor."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The woman shakes her head a little as she continues to sip at the water provided. The few dried provisions provided as well are soon eaten as well. "There are few lands further apart in the Empire than those of the Dragon and those of the Asahina. The lands are different, the weather, very much is different... and yet how different are we?" It seems a general, philosophical statement more than a pointed question.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi smirked. "Fairly different, I should expect. For one, I would gladly stay in a single room for the remainder of my days if it meant I could create art endlessly. It would seem that you are of a different mind."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The woman looks thoughtful at the statement a good moment. Finally she gives a small nod. "I think that I would be more content that you give credit for Asahina-sama, but hai, I do not believe that is to be my lot in life. Even if I wished to stay in one place in constant study and meditation, my body is a tool of war and combat. I am forever meant to be where the Empire needs my skill, until I am no more."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi nodded. "And the Empire needs both of us to serve in our capacities."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The Dragon tilted her head a little, curious, though her tone barely showed it. "Is that why you are here then Daidoji-sama? Sumimasen, but your earlier words seem true enough. You have all the looks of a man that would go far in the courts."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi smiled. "No, I am afraid not. I am here because my Father cannot lose at Fortunes and Winds."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

That curiosity turned to a look of puzzlement a moment before she nodded softly. "You are here for family then. That would make it similar to my own, though my own does not involve dice."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi smiled. "Family is important. I am not sure that it is all-important. However, I am certain that I was not built for a warship."
