The galley is a small space but cozy, easily the most pleasant place below decks. Ventilation is ensured by decorative but functional copper and class windows and chimneys. There is only one table, a large circular operation that is bolted to the floor. To make the most possible use of the space, the center of the table has been cut out to allow six people to eat from the inside ring, ten along the outside.

The stove is easily the most unusual and out-of-place part of the whole chamber. At first glance, it appears to be some sort of Kaiu war machine or device of torture from a play, for it has been carefully designed of steel and pottery to prevent fire from breaking out on the ship. Despite this, a bucket of water is set quite prominently at the stove's edge, ready for emergencies. Removing this bucket or emptying it for any reason is a punishable offense.

At any given hour, there will always be a ready supply of dried fish, a special cold tea, and raw vegetables available for snacking. Hot meals, being somewhat hazardous to make, are served only twice per day, though those who have skills to do so may use the kitchen at any time provided they clean up after themselves and approve the use of materials with O-washi.

On Meals.

Hot Meals are served in the Mid-Morning and Mid-Evening Time slots.

Serving portions are relatively small. Enough to keep your strength up and keep you active, but not enough to really fill you. The reason for this is that on a ship supplies are limited. There are several ways of getting extra rations however.

1. Extraordinary Service- Performing deeds above and beyond the call of duty will sometimes be rewarded by the captain with extra servings of food and alcohol for the person in question.

2. Bribes and Trade- Just as one can trade duties, you can barter for food, offering to take up other crew's duties or offering other goods in return for extra food.

3. The Old Fashioned Way- Go out on a boat and get your own food then convince someone to cook it for you.

Some additional notes.

The Head cook is in charge of all food in the galley and will not give out extra rations under any circumstances unless authorized by O-Washi or the Captain. If she sees a samurai coming to the galley constantly throughout the day she is allowed to cut them off to preserve the food stocks for the voyage.
