Day 2, Mid-Morning, OPEN, A hot meal?

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi ponders the Dragon and Crab's words, his eyes gazing off towards something behind them.

"If wisdom may be gained from many paths, from travelling the entire width and length of the Empire, or by sitting on a mountaintop moving nary an inch are both path's truly equal? " Nobuyoshi asks.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The Mirumoto shook her head slowly. "Hai, they each have their own difficulties, their own hurdles. To travel takes a lot of work, but you can find many different paths when your own takes you elsewhere. Staying in one place is easier, but you have less resources to use to seek true wisdom. Unless you have a truly extensive library, many companions to speak to, or a great talent on internal realization through meditation, it will be the more difficult of paths, despite the ease."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi ponders the Dragon.

"Interesting that you judge the difference between wisdom in strength of obstacles to overcome, Mirumoto-san." Nobuyoshi replies.

"You have stated that you disdain matters physical and social, which would certainly be experienced in much more depth if you go looking for wisdom, rather than waiting for it to come to you. However, if you go looking for wisdom you will encounter more people who have not taken even the first step, rather than simply meeting those already on the path. I would suspect that had more to do with your being here, rather than a desire for an easier path."

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko looks over to Cook a moment. "Cook, shall I bring the meals down to those who're staying in the hold? When do they eat?" he asks, eyes trailing over the samurai crew.

[Volsung]

"While you were busy with putting the spices on the fish I had Blossom come grab their food. Those that aren't on duty anyway. Those that are." She shrugged. "They manage to sneak a few bites in here and there to keep their strength up."

[Usagi Zenko]

"Oh, okay." He nods. "Any food allergies to anything down there?" He asks, inquisitively.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Nobuyoshi ponders the Dragon.

My duty to my clan, and to the empire, is to use my sword to the best of my abilities. I used it on the northern front, and at the command of my superiors, now I use it for this ship's use. That I gain wisdom regardless is certainly a benefit, but I would put that aside should it be required of me."

[Volsung]

"Oh, okay." He nods. "Any food allergies to anything down there?" He asks, inquisitively.

Cook shrugged again. "Only complaints I get are when I have to work with subpar food or a busybody gets themselves involved in my work."

[Usagi Zenko]

He nods to that. "Then let me know when I've become too much of a busy body. I'm not about to stand between anyone and the blessings Inari-kami would give."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Itsuho shook her head slowly. "My being here has to do with putting what I have learned to use before my own path in life. My duty to my clan, and to the empire, is to use my sword to the best of my abilities. I used it on the northern front, and at the command of my superiors, now I use it for this ship's use. That I gain wisdom regardless is certainly a benefit, but I would put that aside should it be required of me."

How would you require someone to stop gaining wisdom? Have her sit with a bucket on her head? Run naked through the streets of Ryoko Owari with a jug of liquid void? Perhaps Mirumoto-san is just more comfortable promising things she'll never have to do. Nobuyoshi ponders over tea.

He turns his attention to the quiet Crab.

"What about you, Toritaka-san?" he asks, not bothering to clarify.

[Toritaka Punchiru]

"Wisdom doesn't have a formulaic approach, my interpretation of the Tao suggests. One could gain enlightenment simply by setting every person who currently disdains spiritual matters on the first step. Enlightenment is inherently elusive, you will only know you have it when you have it. Thus, wisdom cannot be sought. Instead one must prepare for wisdom as one might if one heard that a mighty lord and hero were passing through the village."

Punchiru takes another mouthful, mentally reviewing what he has just claimed.

Well, it kinda holds together.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

Uminushi settles down to eat, looking comfortable as he half-listens to the conversations around him.

[Volsung]

He nods to that. "Then let me know when I've become too much of a busy body. I'm not about to stand between anyone and the blessings Inari-kami would give."

The old woman was obviously warming to the Usagi at least a little because she grinned at that and gave him a bow. "Certainly, Samurai-sama."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi sips his tea, more interested in seeing what the Dragon will say about the Toritaka's words than contributing himself.

An interesting way to start the day.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The Dragon woman gave a small shrug. "That has been the way of many, hai... but many have also become wise by seeking out wisdom and learning all the can. The same has been true of enlightenment. There is no path to wisdom, but nor will wisdom merely happen all the time. Truly, an enlightened soul is half luck. Yet... I would never claim that those that seek true wisdom are just as likely to find it as those that do not."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

"Hmmm, Luck versus Destiny, Mirtumoto-san? These are deep conversational waters we are entering." Nobuyoshi supplies.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho gave a seated bow. "Was that not destined when the topic of wisdom came up, Bayushi-sama? Few things have ever been called deeper than knowledge."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

A small smile behind the mask.

"Or perhaps we were just lucky to sit together, Mirumoto-san." Nobuyoshi offers. "It's easy to perceive one as the other. I'm not sure that there's a way for someone to accurately tell the difference."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

The young Dragon woman gave a soft shrug. "Then perhaps we should not try to distinguish between the two, and call them one and the same. It is to the same end, is it not?"

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

A pause from the Bayushi.

"I know you're not very concerned about social matters, Mirumoto-san," Nobuyoshi offers. "However, some people might question calling a winning hand at gambling the result of destiny, or the succession of their lord by their lord's progeny the result of luck."
