[Day 2 - Dawn/Early Morning] Twitchy's First Meal

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko nods, setting about the work, using the memory of the previous day's meals for how Cook is likely to set stuff up.

[Volsung]

Cook smiles at the small Shiba and nods her head. "Precisely so, Shiba-sama."

Cook looks around. "I believe that is all for now. There is clean-up of course, but that can wait for after the meal. Was there anything else samurai-samas wanted to ask?"

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko shakes his head. "Ah, Still need to arrange their meals. Appeasing to the eye is helpful to complete the meal, my mother always used to say."

He starts getting plates ready, working on making rice turtles, vegetables that appear as if an island upon the turtles backs and using the sauce to make a rising sun.

He smiles lightly as he works.

[Shiba Nozomi]

The little Shiba watches with some small fascination as the creatures spring to life from the Usagi's hands. "B-but Usagi-san... if you m-make it too pretty, they w-won't want to eat it..."

[Volsung]

Cook frowns. "Doesn't make sense to me, Usagi-sama. Food is good because it's good. Making it look pretty is trying to make up for poor food." She nods to herself in conclusion.

[Usagi Zenko]

He shakes his head. "Hai, a poor cook might try and hide that lack with it. But a good cook," he nods to Supaisu, "only adds to the delight of the meal. Think of it as telling a story with the food. One could have the turtle 'swimming' towards or away from the sun. Which could indicate the time of day of the meal, sunset or sunrise for example. Although really, this one is sparked from a conversation with the Captain, about how such turtles as these can cause whole islands to disappear, and that if one is not careful, they will be missed entirely."

He looks up, "Much like the meal itself. If all these sailors aren't careful, the meal will swim right away from them."

[Volsung]

Cook was still frowning, not entirely convinced by this idea of messing with food. But she wasn't about to tell the samurai to stop what he was doing, so instead she went to make certain that everything else was prepared for the coming meal.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi smiles after the cook walked off. "I don't know if s-she quite approves, Usagi-san. But t-turtles the size of islands? I think the C-captain was telling some f-fanciful tales to the new su-sailor."

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko looks shocked at the idea... "Are you sure?" He frowns. "There are odder things in this world, after all."

[Shiba Nozomi]

She pushes one of the turtles a little farther along it's path down the plate. "There a-are. And there very w-well might be those s-sorts of things... but reality t-tends to be far m-more strange than any st-story, I've found."

[Volsung]

Cook smiled. "Precisely. Did you know, for example, that Isawa-gunso's eagle used to be a person? Never would have guessed that, neh?"

[Shiba Nozomi]

First, Nozomi hadn't known the bird was O-Washi's. Second, it was almost as big as she was. "Really?" She seems rather startled by the statement.

[Volsung]

"Oh certainly." Cook says easily enough, as though it were common knowledge and this sort of thing happened all the time. "In truth it was his true love whom he met during the war of Fire and Thunder. She was cursed by a sea witch and turned into an eagle. Isawa-gunso, to this day, looks for a way to break the curse of his love."

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko nods, not willing to say otherwise.
