The tall woman made her way down to the hold, hand lifted to steady herself against the wall. Her face was set in a 'netural' expression, stern and unsmiling. Once she was in the belly of the ship, her dark brown eyes swept over the space, searching for one of the crafters.

Amaya's head swiveled up from a massed tangle of rope she was working on and she rose to give a salute. "O-Moshi-sama," she said smartly. "What can i do ya for?" Of all the people on the boat, oddly enough the Moshi didn't make her that nervous. Well... no more nervous than she made anyone to begin with anyway.

Amaya received a curt nod of acknowledgement as the woman answers in short, brusque sentences, "I need the hands of a few of the wood-workers. Seems the recruits didn't bring proper practice weapons."
It was neither friendly nor unfriendly, simply efficient.

"I'll make sure Chuckles knows," she said, nodding at that. "He'n Blossom should b'able to handle it. Ya want I should ask th'Kaiu as well? I think she said sh'seems to know lots bout bunches of crafts." The idea of speaking to the Kaiu again wasn't quite something she relished, but business was business.

"See if she isn't any good at wood crafting then, I wouldn't mind another on board. Polearms, by the by," she replies.

"Any type y'er lookin fer other'n jus polearms? Yari r the shorter fatter ones like what the monks sometimes use?" she asked. making a mental note of the particulars that were desired. She would need to get together with the Kaiu and the others in abit. "Most of 'em jus finished their shift, but they'll get'n it. Hopefully get ya somethin in a day, mebbe two either way. We'll see what it takes." There had to be an oar or two that could be converted.

Kaimenko frowns faintly and shakes her head, "No. We're looking at naginata, satsuma or sodegarami. The yari is more a spear."
The frown briefly deepens before her expression smooths back into that cold, aloof look. Her dark brown eyes shift over Amaya's head as her gaze sweeps over the contents of the hold, "Do we have anything to serve as staves for the moment...?"

"Should be bellayin pins round, an kami I hope there's at least a tonfa round here somewhere. Never used 'em myself, but they're jus bout anywhere. Don't know how folks go unarmed when there's perfectly good farm tools for beaten the hell outta some oaf. Don't have non on me, though. I stick t'Sai n kama most times, or my hands. Those work jus fine."

She shakes her head, "O-washi-san would have more use for those in his training lessons."
Kaimenko steps around Amaya as she starts moving around the crates and barrels, muttering to herself, "... maybe the porters left some of the poles."

"Eh? Those flimsy bamboo things what're used for th'cast offs? Yeah, there's still a few of those round," she said, moving towards a set of the boxes. "Over here, I think. Not's stiff as the staffs folks use n fightin, but I spose they'd do ok, wouldn't they?"

"Aye. We'll just stick to basics for now," she replies with a frown, "No strikes. No blocks. Heavens forbid we bruise the delicate little flowers."

"They'll get plenty bruised up soon 'nuff, regardless," she said, shrugging. "Sea's not exactly kind that way most seasons, an one of these days we'll get a real squall, even'f we hit landfall first. Plenty of bruises t'get that way." It was hard to tell from her face if she was enjoying dry wit or she was a mostly humorless woman. The scars didn't help there one bit either.

Kaimenko snorts in reply as she ducks behind a stack of crates, "Long as I don't have to hear the whining... here. I think I found them."

"I'll make sure th'others know t'make those 'fore tomorrow," she said, nodding a bit and making a note to tell the crew when she saw them and the Kaiu for the next shift, since she wouldn't be back until later on for carpentry work. "Hope we should have somethin soon 'nuff."

"Thanks," the woman replies as she lifts the bundle from behind the stack of crates. Kaimenko nods to the heiman as she hefts the the bundle of poles up, "Hrm. Is there a place to stow this until it's needed?"
