by Yoritomo Uminushi
Uminushi comes in to the crew's quarters and looks around. He runs a hand through his hair and studies the far wall a moment before clearing his throat. He didn't bellow as his first mate did, but his voice did carry clearly. "Alright, trainees, roll out... time for a bit of a heart to heart with your Captain."

The Asahina puts away the book she had received earlier in the day from the Moshi and stands from underneath the light by her bunk. She goes to find a spot to listen to the captain more clearly. "Good evening Captain," she says, bowing before she takes a seat.

He glances towards the woman's side and the hanging that gives them some privacy, "Good evening... Asahina-san? Isn't it? Are you lady's decent?"

"I saw nobody that was not while I was reading Captain," she replies. "If you'd like I could move the curtain to allow more room."

"I'd appreciate that," comes the mild reply. He moves towards the men's side and peeks around the curtain. Uminushi makes sure that nothing was hanging out before he flicks the curtain open.

Narumi stands once more and goes to the female side to make sure nobody is in the middle of changing before she opens the female side's curtain. She finds her seat once again and sits, waiting for the captain's news with a smile on her face.

Hearing the Captain, Hikaru sits down the book he was reading and makes his way to the common area. He bows low and says

"Good evening Captain-sama."

Usan was a light sleeper, and woke up to the Captain's voice. He rubbed his eyes and slid out of his bunk, quickly making himself presentable. He was knotting his scarf behind his head as the captain pulled the curtain open. He bowed low to the Captain, and waited for him to head to the common room before joining him.

"Apologies Usan-san, I won't keep you up too long." Uminushi moves back in to the common room and drops in to a chair. Once both sets of curtains were up, he starts to speak, "So, most of you know we picked up a survivor yesterday. He woke up and had some interesting information to give us. It seems that, during the winter, there's been quite a bit of unrest in the Ivory Kingdoms."

He pauses and frowns, "Several cities haven been sacked and he was going up the coast to warn Lanka. That's where we were heading for our first stop and I have a feeling there's going to be trouble. So, I'll need each and every one of you to have your eyes and ears peeled when we hit port."

"Captain," Narumi speaks up. "Is the man in question a trustworthy source of information? I don't know if he was subjected to the kami's scrutiny or if you would even wish it. But if you question him again, I could come with to attempt to determine the veracity of a few of his answers." She makes her offer. Any way she can be of help, she will try.

"That would make it more difficult for me to make sense of what he is saying, but the kami are likely not bound by language," Narumi replies. "They should be able to tell me whether he is speaking truth even if I do not understand what he is saying."

She then adds on a disclaimer, "Though I can't guarantee that, it is worth the attempt if you are interested in trying." She gives a confident smile, even if she isn't completely certain.

"Asahina-san, I'm going to be a bit blunt here but I hope you realize, with your enthusiastic suggestions, that you're questioning me and my methods in front of your fellows," Uminushi smiles in a friendly manner, "Luckily, I'm not an honorable man by any stretch of the imagination and I won't take umbrage."

"I meant not to question your methods Captain," she replies with a bit of a frown. "Only to inform you that I had the capability available and thus you have it as well, by extension through a member of your crew. I am ready and willing to serve."

"Which I am quite aware of," he replies with a shrug before explaining patiently, "And I am advising you, Asahina-san, that in the future when you serve on other ships that if you wish to make yourself useful to do it with discretion and not in front of your commanding officer's subordinates."

Uminushi quirks a brow and casually indicates the other samurai in the room. "Do you understand?"

"Yes, Captain. My apologies," Narumi replies. This is so different. Volunteering to help back home was generally met with a yes or no. Questioning methods? The priestess just sits and listens.

Hikaru stands by passively. At least on the outside. He didn't like to see one of the only people he didn't think was a complete lunatic or imbecile among the recruited chastised wither she deserved it or not.

However the Ikoma knew his place and just castes his eyes in another direction so he doesn't notice the scene.

"Good, I would hate to hear that something awful happened to you because I failed to teach you proper military manners," he absently reaches up and knocks on the hull, "Now, to answer your question. No, that isn't necessary. We'll find out soon enough whether the lad is lying or no when we hit port."

Hoshi had just finished packing her statue away when the captain appeared at the crew quarters, who she honoured with a deep bow before falling in with the others. "May I ask the estimated time of arrival Captain? A few of us may keep time tables on getting everything prepped for landing."
