In the early hours of the morning, Daidoji Fuichi entered the crew quarters clutching a small wooden statue. His exhaustion was fairly evident, so much so that he found himself unable to negotiate the walled berth and instead sat down against the wall with a muffled 'oof!'

Usan was quietly securing the knots on the twine around his bowyer's kit; he wanted to be ready for the day as soon as possible so he could check over the armory first thing in the morning. And if he could slip out with little notice, so much the better.

'Oooof.'

Usan looked over his shoulder to notice the collapsed form against the berth across from him. He mentally sighed, Of course, I'm on a ship. 'Quiet' and 'Little Notice' are things of the past now. Still, it wouldn't do to trip over the guy, so he picked up his kit and tried to quietly make his way to the form. "Are you all right, sama?" He whispered.

Fuichi focused on the stranger through bleary, hooded eyes. "Just fine, Bayushi?-san." A yawn.

Usan peered a bit more at the man, at least until he could find a recognizable mon. Cranes. Never could hold their sake, could they? Usan thought.

Usan kept his voice in a whisper, so as not to wake up the crew. "Well plenty of water before rest should keep you out of sick bay at least. Do you require assistance getting into your berth?"

Fuichi thought about that, in a distant sort of way. A shaky attempt to stand was rapidly abandoned. "Yes, I suppose I do."

It was just then that Usan realized what sort of predicament he got in. He'd have to touch another samarai. A Crane no less.

"All right, lets get you quickly and quietly into your berth, shall we?" he whispered, thinking No need for others to see this humiliation, after all.

He checked the berth to make sure it was the Crane's proper berth, then bent down to offer a hand to Fuichi. "Ready?" he whispered again.

He extended his hand. "Yes."

Usan took his hand and carefully helped him up, then let Fuichi lean on him as he helped him to his berth. He made a silent prayer to the Fortunes that the Crane wouldn't prove to be a problem and he could get on with his morning.

Fuichi slid down to bed with another muffled 'oof.' "My thanks, Bayushi-san," he mumbled.

"Sleep well..." he peered again just to make sure, "Daidoji-san." Usan gave a proper bow before securing his kit under his arm. He then made his way out of the quarters as quietly as possible.

What did the Crane expect him to do? Tuck him in?
