[Day 2, mid-afternoon] Sharpest Agony

[Isawa Junpei]

"Fulmar," Junpei retorted rather deadpan. "I won't bother explaining, the bird is really only known for one thing and that's pretty much it. Ugh, how humiliating."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

"That is embarrassing, hai, but at least yours isn't a series of absurd sexual innuendos. Fortunes, you'd think these sailors had never seen...someone like me before."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I'd dare say that these sailors haven't seen a lot of things...like a bar of soap for one. Well, at least yours isn't as directly disgusting. Do you know how hard it is too look at your meal and then be reminded of some of the worst sea sickness you've had in your life?" He smirked and shook his head.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi smiled serenely. "I've never actually been sea-sick for longer than an hour or so. It's good to see you so well recovered, though."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I try not to make excuses, but I have an earth imbalance in the best of times, and being out at sea aggravated it to no end. And the less said about the Sea of Sorrows the better. I just never got a chance to get hold of my humors. Thankfully, once we were out of that horrid place, I managed to start feeling like my normal self. Really the trick is to not think about it. The rolling sea that is."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

It rather amused Fuichi how an Isawa became an instant authority on every subject. Perhaps wisely, he did not make mention of this.

"Hai, I'm sure not thinking helps a great deal," he teased. "I've often hypothesized that it is the weight of the unbalanced mind that causes digestive reversals."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I'm afraid I wouldn't know. I just know that my condition certainly doesn't help matters. I'll leave the specifics to our squadron of medics we have on board. I suppose too many healers is better than too few." Junpei teased back.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi chuckled quietly. "You'll be glad for the lot of us after our first engagement, I should expect."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I'm hoping not." The young Phoenix folded his arms, "I'm not sure how much I punishment I can take, and I don't much care for the idea of being riddled with arrows or dodging ballista."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

"I'm sure a mighty Tensai like you would know all manner of prayers that could help him against the slings and arrows of his enemy? If not, I'll protect you, Isawa-san."

[Isawa Junpei]

"Assuming you're not too busy tending the wounded," Junpei countered. "I don't even want to speculate on how things will fare in a conflict. We're part of the military now so conflict is inevitable, but honestly I've never been in a battle, well, outside of fleeing Kyuden Isawa. There are too many variables to make it a comfortable thing to contemplate."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi nodded once. "Warfare shouldn't be comfortable. Look at the people who find it so; their lives are defined by killing. That is a tragic set of circumstances."

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei couldn't help the reflexive glance to the Ikoma in the room, but quickly looked back at Fuichi, "There are few fates worse than an eternity in Toshigoku. Still we are part of the Empress' personal military, conflict is inevitable. No matter how great our luck, it will come for us one day."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi frowned. "I still have not reached the point where I feel that I can...kill someone. That said, I would gladly call on the heavens to protect those on this ship."

[Ikoma Hikaru]

When Junpei arrives Hikrau nods and says "Isawa-san" before he starts rummaging threw his gear for something or another.

He smirks to himself as they talk about nicknames, sightly wondering if he had been given one.

As he turns back around he notices the glance from Junpei and he replies

"Warfare is indeed uncomfortable. I have ruined more than one kimono, and have you ever tried to get blood out from under your fingernail? it takes FOREVER!!" he exclaims.

Apparently the Ikoma slightly missed Fuichi's point.

"I am much more comfortable in a court chamber. However dont be mistaken. They are often times much more dangerous than a battle field."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I'm sure it's none of my business, but with your background, especially your esteemed position, how did you find yourself on the Half Moon? Daidoji-san, if you don't mind me saying," he nodded at Fuichi in apology if he were overstepping his bounds, "Is here not entirely by his own designs. Are you the same? Or are you, perhaps, more like me...signed up to escape the mainland and the tedium that goes with it?"
