[Day 1, Early Evening] Stars in Their Multitude

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi looks the captain over, and considers the question a moment.

"I had not considered that question, Captain." Nobuyoshi says, his voice still flat, though louder in case of wandering deaf Cranes. "The purpose of this trip is to learn, the information may be valuable, and your words are important. Is that not enough?"

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Important?" he chuckles with a shake of his head, "Only if one is interested in learning how to find one's way on the sea and frankly, ships only need one or two men to know the way. And certainly, the purpose of the trip is to learn but it is also for us to evaluate you."

Uminishi glances up at the sky, "Not everyone who joins the Ninth Legion is meant to be on a boat, Bayushi-san."

"This," the man points to the 'new' constellations, "Tells me that you have no interest. It's sloppy and, if I were an angrier man, insulting."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi offers a deep, sincere, apologetic bow to the Captain.

"My apologies, Captain-sama," he says, maintaining the bow. "It was neither my intent to express a lack of interest in the topic, nor to offer insult to you, sir. I apologize for doing such, even inadvertently."

Nobuyoshi remains bowed.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

The Scorpion receives a hearty (and friendly) slap on the back.

"That's fine, just try to show some enthusiasm," he remarks as he gives a long-suffering sigh with a shake of his head, "I have delicate sensibilities that are easily bruised, unlike your other teachers."

There was a wicked gleam of humor in the man's eyes as he moves to stand.

The slap on the back was not expected. Of course, the captain was of sufficient status to jam his fingers up hohei's nostrils if he was so inclined to, but it was still not difficult to flinch slightly at the contact.

Show some enthusiasm? How am I going to...?

"I shall prove to you, Captain, that I belong on a boat." Nobuyoshi pledges, trying to add a bit of warmth to his normal flat tones.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi watches the whole exchange with hidden amusement. Biting her lip, she ducks her head a bit and focuses a little more intently on cleaning off the bits of wax from her tablet that had accumulated as she wrote.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"I wait with bated breath to see and hear about those efforts," he replies jovially.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi offers another bow to the Captain, and then assuming the captain has others to work with, turns his attention back to the tablet and the sky.

I wonder how many 'fake' stars are actually up there? he wonders.
