Whistle While You Work [Day 1, Mid-Afternoon]

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

She thought for a moment. Then shook her head. "Can't really say I'm known for much of anything except a Moshi who was born on a ship and will die a Moshi on a ship should the Fortunes allow it." This, too, made her smile.

Nobuyoshi shrugs.

"Only the fortunes know where our path ends." Nobuyoshi responds, turning his attention back to the Crab and the Crane. "You may have to raise the bar on singing, training or no, unless you wish for that to become the standard, however."

[Moshi Chihiroko]

Chihiroko couldn't help but laugh. "Hai, I suppose you're right. You'd think that at least the Crane would be alright at signing... Certainly there's someone who is a regular part of the crew here that can sing."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

"Take a shot at it, Moshi-san." Nobuyoshi encourages. "At the very worst, you'll be able to claim you sing as well as a Crane."

"I'll even sing after you, if that's the price you require for such an act." he offers.

[Kakita Sugita]

The Kakita was not far away. "Me good at singing? Bah. I'm no songbird, and I don't need te be."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Because I can just duel my way through life, and act like a boor otherwise. Nobuyoshi mentally adds to the Kakita's interjection.

"That doesn't make anything I've said less true" Nobuyoshi says to no one in particular, in a flat, passionless voice.

[Kakita Sugita]

Sugita leans in closer. "Sorry. What? You're talking awfully quiet there."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi nods.

"As my sensei was fond of saying, 'Those who are loud are heard, those who are quiet are listened to.'" he mentions to no one in particular.

[Kakita Sugita]

"Something something fondling?" Sugita's brows knit. "I thought I had a potty moth. Shit."

I can't believe this guy... is the look Sugita gives.

[Asahina Narumi]

Seeing her distant clan mate being his usual self didn't do any favors to the Asahina's relaxation time. She had nothing against the man but she wondered if he had any personal issues or demons that made him... thus.

But the man was easily offset by the taste and scent of strawberry. So she continued enjoying the sea and watching the others working.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko, for her part, ignored the spectacle. The squabblings of a crane and scorpion weren't really her concern. Scrubbing the floors and humming her tunes... now there was excitement!

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Non-chalantly, the Scorpion positions so he is facing the Kakita, and not the Mantis. He leans a bit in towards the Kakita as if he's trying to help the man hear his quiet voice.

"Are you feeling ok, Kakita-san?!?" he shouts at the man. "We just left the Sea of Shadows, so if you're experiencing some sort of deficiency with your hearing, maybe you should go to Sick Bay and have it checked out!

"I wouldn't want your pride in serving in the Imperial Legion to cause you to inadvertently endanger your shipmates because you were afraid to take a moment to bother the people in Sick Bay! " he concludes louder than anyone has heard him the entire time he's been here.

[Asahina Narumi]

The sudden shouting brings the Asahina to her feet, as she prepares to use her school's teachings to reduce any harm the two men might inflict on each other. After all, it could only serve to make the healing she might have to do later easier.

[Kakita Sugita]

If the Bayushi was attempting to get Sugita to jump, he succeeded. But once the Crane gains control of his reactions, he only smiles. "That is much better. Hate to not be able to hear you over the noise of the waves and creaking ship if there is trouble. Thought you hadn't a voice there."

[Moshi Chihiroko]

Before she could say or do anything, the squabble ensued. Chihiroko got up and joined the Asahina. How delightful.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Making a Kakita jump without getting challenged to a death duel: immediately gratifying. Perhaps sparking at least one rumor about the Kakita, his hearing, and the sea of shadows, all simply through volume control of one's own voice: priceless.

"Then you can rest assured, Kakita-san." Nobuyoshi says in a voice that is around normal volume, if still lifeless and flat. "Both that I have a voice, and that if I'm in your vicinity when trouble happens, I'll let you know that it's happening."

Why Kakita-san, how did all those kunai get lodged in your back spilling all that blood on your pretty blue sleeping kimono? he imagines.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko looked over for a moment, disgruntled and clearly contemplating the idea of beating a certain Bayushi to death with a mop. After a moment of looking, she just shrugs and continues her whistling. Men.

[Kakita Sugita]

"Excellent. We'll get along just fine." For some loose definitions of fine. "Oh, I'm Kakita Sugita. Nice te be shipmates with ya."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

A polite bow to the Crane introducing himself.

"Bayushi Nobuyoshi." the Scorpion introduces himself. "Seeing as we're assigned to the same battle station, I'm sure we'll learn much from each other."

[Asahina Narumi]

After the heated yelling stops and the two exchange words at a reasonable level, the priestess puts her kiseru back up to her mouth. With a few drags and the scent of strawberry, her nerves re-calm. She respectfully bows to the Moshi and thanks her quietly, "Much appreciated, Moshi-sama."

[Kakita Sugita]

Oh, right, the bowing thing. Sugita does that. Late. After remembering. "More th'n likely. I'll look forward ta it."
