[Day 5 - Late Afternoon] Red Umbrella

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"My impressions have also been in passing with Kitsuki. From this mere moment alone, you've out done all of them...if you wish to consider that an achievement Mirumoto-san. Still...I wasn't aware that sailing was a part of the Dragon lands anywhere in frequency to see this many of your kin. There's a lack of it too in the Scorpion lands but we are at least freshwater creatures thanks to the River of Gold."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho nodded, gripping the ship as it heaved slowly. "No, there is little water in Dragon lands. A few smaller streams, a few lakes in the mountain valleys, but nothing that a sizable ship would do much good on. Still... a duty is a duty, and the Legion needs more people overseas now than in Rokugan proper it seems."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

After a glance, Hoshi nodded once. "Hai, strange how administration tends to work out at times ne? I've never dreamt of duty at sea but here I am. Were I actually on land instead, I would have made my brother jealous but...I'm content with this instead."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho just gave a small nod to that, not having anything really to say in reply. She watched the storm a moment before she spoke up again. "I will say, I wish at the moment I was stationed on land. I like my ground to not sway under my feet constantly. I've gotten used to the normal waves, but this... this is something else all together."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

“Mm...At the moment? I think we’re talking beyond the inconvenience of a sudden storm if you were stationed anywhere else, Mirumoto-san. Would it be better said if being here right now would be something else all together?” She brushed some hair away from her eyes when some winds whipped through. “I think a few are thinking about Rokugan. Call it Scorpion superstition but the weather serves as a good omen at the moment...”

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

"Good omen or not Baysushi-sama, I wish the good omen was something sunnier." She too brushed her hair back as a large gust almost sends her reeling.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi chuckled softly, "Effective omens tend to have the most dramatic of entrances, an elder said once. Perhaps we can hope that the next one will have a far more subtle cue. Then again, I fear we might miss it. Sun for sun's sake is good too"

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho gave a small nod. "Hai... omens are good, but sun for sun's sake sounds perfect right about now."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Is it a sunny place where you're from...Mirumoto-san?"

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho nods a little. "Hai. I am from higher up in the mountains than most Mirumoto. Not much rain makes it up that high... though the Dragon lands in general are rather dry."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"At least you never had to worry about flooding up there." Hoshi brought up, not meaning to make it sound like a consolation joke. "That does paint a different description for me. I should have known that it could get arid there. Being out here...you must be homesick."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho shakes her head a little. "I miss the mountains sometimes, hai. Still... it's something new, something I can learn from. I want to embrace this new place, not long for the past. Not if I can help it."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi seemed to smile in approval. "Good. That sort of commitment may earn you a new niche, at least I hope so. I'm new to the whole life at sea...far newer to this setting, but Ryoko Owari Toshi was a hard adjustment to a country girl just a few years ago too."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho gives a nod. "I imagine Ryoko Owari Toshi would be just as large an adaptation for me as the Half Moon has been. The largest city I have ever been to was Shiro Mirumoto, and that was only to visit once. I am not really used to crowds."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"I find adaption easy when complimented with duty, something I'm sure most Scorpion would say in my place but something that can't be exclusive to those of my clan alone."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho nods a little. "That is how I feel as well, though I find the transition also eased by quiet meditation on the Tao. Something not exclusive to the Dragon either I imagine."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Very unlikely the case when it comes to the wise words of the Little Teacher. Bayushi-kami was taken by his wisdom for a reason. But...that's a practice I find myself falling behind admittedly. The demands of reality can make meditating to enigmas difficult."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho gave a small nod. "Sometimes it is the most simple things that can be the most difficult, hai? Still, when one puts their mind to it, meditation can be quite freeing from the worries of the world." She gripped the railing of the ship's cabin. "...Though in a storm such as this, even I would find it... taxing."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Isn't this where action would be more befitting than introspect Mirutomo-san? In practice of doing busying one self could just as freeing than meditation when you don't try to pay much mind to the storm itself."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho nods a little. "Certainly INaction would not do... but too much in such a case would be difficult as well. That is why I plan on staying right here rather than walking around on the deck."
