"No, not quite. But it is a common custom among my familly for every ship to have at least one cat on board. Osano-Wo and Suitengu are fond of cats and bless ships that carry one and treat it well."

Hoshi showed two fingers. "Then...that would two cats for double the blessings, or one cat for Osano-Wo-kami and one for Suitengu-kami? Some of the crew seem to think otherwise with keeping the cats, the cook was mentioned? It's strange, I never thought cats had any affinity for either lightning or water..."

"Twin cats, far more blessed. The cook has sadly been cursed with an allergy to cats, so can't be blamed for not being comfortable with having them around. Cats have an exceptional affinity for the sea, they can sense a storm coming before even most of the keenest samurai."

"I've heard they had a sense of ghosts and the spiritual but never for storms..." Hoshi did her best not to sound skeptical. "Sea cats, that's a new one. I wonder if dogs feel less than useful in the Empire now...Do they have names?"

Hoshi smirked a touch behind her mask as she glanced back to the seas, "Those are cute names...it almost sounds like everyone has been feeling quaint around Supaisu and her adversity with the ship's pets."

"Supaisu? Is that the cook? I hadn't heard her name before, everyone just calls her Cook. I do hope she won't take offense to the names."

Hoshi nodded once. "Hai. Everyone does call her Cook. I don't know well enough but I doubt she would, -ah...so long no one actually expects the kittens to become her cook mates with such names."

"Ah I doubt that, we will be trying to keep them out of the kitchen as much as possible so they don't bother her, so far they mostly just stay in the crew quarters unless someone brings them some place else."

Hoshi only showed signs of a smirk. "Someone must have been showering them for attention then...because I have yet to see them for myself, but I'm interested in seeing them for myself if they've suddenly made themselves the ship's mascot. Mm...Iie, Isawa-gunso does have that predator bird with him doesn't he?"

Choukichi frowns.

"Hai, that bird is around, so I am very careful about bringing them out on deck, and only ever bring one at a time so I can watch them better... If you want to see them they sleep in a basket by my berth so feel free to visit them anytime."

Hoshi directed an amused glance to the skies. "Well. If it helps...I don't think that bird would be so hungry to make the kittens her prey. Unless they managed to find themselves taking up Isawa-gunso's attention from her. Even will fed animals will attack when it's feeling threatened ne?"

She waved a hand to dismiss that fact. "-Ah, gomen...I'm not an animal person, so I'm guessing. I'll see them for myself when I head down. Thank you."

Her waved hand does little to dismiss his worry at the potential threat to his kittens that he hadn't thought of. He makes a warding gesture against ill fortune and utters a prayer to Osano-Wo asking him to protect Sage and Thyme from the large predator.

"Ah, yes... I am sure they would like to see you too, they're very young and enjoy all the attention they are receiving."

"Your company has been quite pleasant Bayushi-san, but I should return to my devotions before Suitengu or Osano-Wo decide I am ignoring them."

"Of course, the Fortunes are demanding in that aspect. I should return downstairs. Carry them well Yoritomo-san. Enjoy the night." Hoshi bowed politely to excuse herself and made her way back down.
