The Foredeck is largely utilitarian and, due to the presence of the topside cabin, has very little 'floor space' to speak of. A walkway exists on each side of the cabin and at the fore of the ship, shielded by partial walls on two sides and under an awning but open to the fore for visibility, is the Ship's wheel. The 'wheelhouse', such as it is, can contain no more than three people...the pilot, the navigator, and a bosun are the usual persons you would expect to see here. Two skiffs, one to a side, are settled at the same approximate latitude as the wheelhouse; cunning engineering of the mountings ensures they can be raised to provide a bit more shelter for the wheel in times of combat, though visibility will be severely decreased.
