Another day another duty. Today the Cub was going to see if he could score a turn at the wheel again, since it was the best place to be in his opinion. He wasn't planning on getting in anyone's way, but if he happened to be right there and the samurai in charge needed a break or wanted to give some on the spot training, well Jishaku wasn't going to complain.

Climbing into the wheelhouse smoothly, the young Lion took his place at the navigation station and looked out to sea, taking a deep breath of salty air.

Punchiru arrives on deck, ready for another day of work.

"How goes the sea, Akodo-sama?"

"Good afternoon Toritaka-san. The sea is beautiful as ever my friend, though it looks like rain ahead." He nods towards the cloud bank up ahead. "Should be pretty mild though, not like that storm we had just out of port."

Punchiru considers this for a moment. "Please excuse me a moment." He departs below decks and returns later bearing his cloak and hat.

"Dressed for the weather now I see." He grins. "Think I'll take the opportunity to get wet. Although there's shelter enough for the maps here. Enjoying the voyage so far?"

"Oh yes, Akodo-sama. It has been enjoyable, and I think I am making inroads into maximizing my productivity."

"Very good. What have you discovered? I am always keen to hear of ways to maximise the application of practical knowledge."

"It is simply a matter of trade, Akodo-sama. I am exchanging hours of sailing, something I do with aplomb, for hours of fishing and other tasks. Then the rewards of such are passed to me without requiring me to learn new skills."

"A wise endeavor Toritaka-san. So extra duty hours in exchange for fresh fish and so on?" He considers this for a moment. "That raises some interesting possibilities. I was training regularly with the Ram, but now we are on different shifts. Perhaps I can exchange a few hours with someone?" He nods as he returns to his maps.

"I think I may be able to help with such trades. Were your assignments martial and sailing assignments?"

With correct manipulation this may be more profitable for the afternoon fore shift...
