"Oi," she muttered to herself, leaning against the foredeck's railing and rubbing her eyes. Well, the samurai hadn't taken too much time to pester her lately. In fact, much of their behavior had eerily returned to normal, to the point where she might as well not have existed. It certainly made some things a lot simpler, even though she still had no clue which of them were the testy type, and which the overly familiar.
"Mebbe things'll go different after...," she began and then shook her head. That wasn't a line of thought to consider long. She barely knew Dageki, but why bother thinking about it?

It was finally the end of her shift, and Nozomi came out on deck looking about thoughtfully. She had some things to sort out, but one thing had been on her mind for the last few days, and she was really hoping to get it resolved sooner rather than later.
In one hand was a small wad of sea-green and grey fabric.

Hearing nearby footsteps and not wanting to repeat what had happened the other day with the Toritaka taking her by surprise, Amaya glanced around and caught sight of the Shiba. There was one of those that she couldn't be certain if things had changed or if they were just as they were when the woman had made her request several days ago. Samurai could be so ... hard to guess sometimes. Regardless, a quick salute was followed by the slightest cocking of the head to see if the girl was coming over towards her or on her own business.

Catching sight of Amaya, Nozomi's expression brightens. "Amaya... I was w-wondering if you h-had a moment? I don't want t-to take you away from y-your other duties, b-but..."
The ball of fabric she carries gets moved to the other hand and twisted about a little bit.

She nodded and moved a bit to allow the other to come close. "Of course, O-Shiba-sama. What is it ya want?" she said in a tone that was considerably more formal than the other day. It sounded, underneath, the very slightest hint nervous, but not strongly so. She seemed to be gauging the other woman carefully.

Nozomi treats her exactly the same as she had before. A small hand extends and holds out the bundle of cloth, arranging it so that a certain part of it is more directly visible to the heimin.
"Well... I h-had been hoping that m-maybe you could help me w-with this? I got th-this other shirt done, b-but that was because D-D-Daidoji-san was there h-helping... and well..."
the shirt she's wearing has fairly neat stitches around the patches. The shirt she's holding... well... neat wasn't the word anyone would use.

She stepped up and looked the piece over before nodding. Chewing her lip a little, she did notice that the other woman wasn't behaving that differently for the moment, which was at least a little reassuring. "Yeah, I think I can get t'that tonight r tomorrow no problem. Long's th'sails hold up jus fine I should have some time t'work on't. Ya need't now or there some time, O-shiba-sama?"
She opted for the moment to stick to the honorific. If someone stumbled on them and overheard, taking offense, that'd be just as bad as if Nozomi had heard and done so herself.

Nozomi notices the change, but, all things considered, decides not to make an issue of it. "Wh-Whenever you get a moment. I still ha-have this one... So... probably not m-more than t-two or th-three days?" It seemed a reasonable amount of time. It had taken her a few to get to even trying herself.
A piece of floating debris catches her gaze as it thumps lightly against the side of the ship.

"More'n enough time. Don' worry bout it. I'll have that done easy enough. There anythin special ya want done w'this or jus have it sewn up?" she asked, looking over the package and considering it for a moment before cocking her head. It seemed a fairly simple request, even if half of her expected to be knitting everyone's hems soon enough. Still, it kept her fed, so who was she to complain?

"W-well... I did want to check on..." Nozomi thinks back for the name, "Ano... Touhi?"

"Ah yeah... got that a lil mixed up earlier. It was Touhi. She's better. Less rinning in the head, bu.... she's not gonna be someone t'visit with for a while soon's she's heard th'announcement, O-Shiba-sama," she said, shaking her head and frowning, looking out over the waters so she didn't have to look the girl in the eye. It was hard to tell how anyone would react to the news that their brother was going to be executed in fourty eight hours at the outside. "She'll do ok physically though. I'm sure she'd thank ya... well, under other circumstances, pretty easy. Mebbe still anyway."

"I don't n-need her thanks. If s-she needs anything t-to help with... w-well..." Nozomi sighs. "Just l-let me know if she n-needs anything... I kn-know she definitely w-won't be asking me hersu-self... but..." The small shugenja shrugs and follows Amaya's gaze out over the water.
"How are you d-doing with... everything?"

"Oh... well 'nuff. Things're back t'normal more or less. In fact, folks seem t'be goin back t'pretendin I don' exist. Makes life a whole lot simpler in some ways t'just be under foot most days," she said, glancing over at the other woman. She pondered whether to ask and finally a shrug came. "What bout yourself, O-Shiba-sama? Acclamatin good?"

"For the m-most part, pretty well. This place works like m-most of the other ships I've b-been on." She rubs one small hand against the railing.
"The people are s-slightly different, but the things they d-do stay the same..."

"Different people're always gonna be a bit different," she said, figuring that stating the obvious wouldn't be too much of a bad thing in this situation. "How's stuff diff'rent for ya these days, since yer not on a Phoenix boat, I guess?"

"That's part of it, definitely. It's the little things about people that you get used to."
Nozomi turns away from the water and casts her gaze over the rest of the ship, leaning her back against the railing.
"Shorty-san used to w-wrap his legs around the s-spar while he checked on the outer p-parts of the sails, tapping the h-heel of one foot against it in the b-beat of the same song every day. H-h-he'd sometimes sing, too, until s-someone would find a shoe to th-throw at him."
She points to the base of the mast with her chin.
"Riki-s-sama had started a c-carving to Suitengu around the m-mast, not very deep of course, and w-would add to it little by l-little. When I met h-her, it was only half d-done. Her ningyo w-were incredibly realistic."
Her gaze slides towards the wheel.
"N-Neko-san was usually at the wheel, and w-would tie different cu-colored strings around each of the s-spokes. If we hit a st-storm, she'd evaluate it b-by the colors that she h-had to see spin in f-front of her...
Memories of each person danced in her mind's eye, along with their little habits and personality quirks.
