I Spy with my Little Eye (Late Morning 2-Open)

Hikaru walks along the railing of the deck his eyes glued to the waves. After a few moments he notices something floated in the water. Pieces of driftwood, the size of a mans head drift into the boat.
Thats odd....
Hikaru springs into action looking for something he can use to hoist up some of the wood, or a person who can help him.
((Dont know much about ships so dont know if there would be something handy that could be used to scoop up the wood other than just a piece of rope.)

Kaito had noticed flotsam in the water earlier in the day but as it had been small had paid it little heed only going to check on it again upon occasion. As the lion bursts into action though the young mantis moves forward to look into the water again.
"Ikoma-san." He said as he glanced over at the young man. "Do you know how to pipe the signal for ship wreck ahead?"

Hikaru turns and says
"Yoritomo-san. No I have not learned this skill as of yet. Do you think the wood is a shipwreck? I must say that was my fear but I have nothing to base it off of."

The mantis nodded gravely his eye's on the wood. "Hai, doesn't look to be a Rokugani vessel though." he said after a moment more of examination. "Mind going to fetch one of the gunso's then.?"
"Or ya prefer me piping the signal for ya?"

"I would be most honored if you could pipe the signal, then I can watch and hopefully learn from you Yoritomo-san." Hikrau says with a small bow.

The Mantis nodded and takes the small whistle when offered before turning back towards the ship.
"Alright then. Listen close then Ikoma-san and if ya don't get just ask and I'll be sure to tell ya how to later."A moment later he pipes to the ship
"Signs Shipwreck Ahead"It was a slightly complicated signal
but the mantis had no difficulty with it. and after it's complete he turned back to the Lion.
"You hear what I did Ikoma-san?"

Hikrau watches and listens intently and says
"Hai I hear the pattern used. Thank you Yoritomo-san. You honor me with the lesson."

The mantis nods and hands the signal whistle back to the lion on watch. "You are welcome though I hope ya don't need to use it again anytime soon." He replies as he waits.

Hikaru nods as he takes the whistle back.
"Hai, I hope so as well."
He then too waits for a response.

Watch, and supervision of it's people, was one of O-washi's primary duties. So it was that it was he who came trotting over, his expression already deadly serious. Before he said a word, he
peered over the railing, examining the sea himself. After a few moments, he turned to the two sailors.
"Report, hohei."

Kaito snapped to attention as he was asked to report. "In the hour of the Hare I first noticed some wood drifting towards the prow of the ship Gunso. It was small though could of been anything so I set about my duties and kept a spare eye on it. About 5 minutes ago I saw Ikoma-san have a bit of a start and so I checked on it again. I noticed that t was what looked to be parts of a ship wreck though likely not a rokugani vessel and so asked Ikoma-san to pipe it in. As he had not yet learned that signal I piped it for him and taught it to him for future use."

Nodding absently, he turned his glance to the Lion, seeing if he had anything to add.

"There's more further out too, Isawa-gunso." Junpei descended from the sky in a whirl of sleeves. "No wreckage in sight yet, but there's definitely more debris up ahead."

"Hai, Yoritomo-san has the right of it. I noticed the drift wood slapping into the boat, however I was not sure what it was. When Yoritomo-san arrived we agreed that it was most likely a ship wreck and then we piped the signal Gunso-sama." Hikaru replies.

It was going to be one of those days, he could just feel it. O-washi rubbed his goatee thoughtfully. "Right, then. We'll need a decently-sized bit to show to the Captain."

The mantis's eye's scan the waters for a suitable piece for the captain to see
but he doesn't come up with anything. "Don't think I see anything of quite the right size but I can go in after one if someone else does."He offers after a few moments of looking.

Junpei took back to the skies, he was sure he'd spotted pieces that were more than big enough, the problem more was finding one that was close to the boat. Placing a hand over his eyes to block out the sun he steadily scanned the waters. After a few moments he called down to the deck, "To port!" He pointed in the direction of the piece, hopefully giving enough indication of what he was looking at.

Kaito nods and moves to the port side trying to spot the piece of wood that fulmar was pointing out so he could go retrieve it.

With the direction of the Isawa, Kaito is soon able to make out the right piece...or at least, a piece that would do the job.

"Will you need some help, Yoritomo-san?" Junpei asked as he drifted back down, though this time off to the side of the ship.
