[Day 1 – Early Morning] Duty

The day shift? This is going to take some getting used to... Hoshi made her way up to the foredeck just about where the time slipped into a new hour. She bit back a yawn when she was flashed with the sky’s offering of sun that replaced the perpetual night that the crew almost took for granted for the past few days. Her eyes adjusted to the sun as she neared one of the deck’s railings to get her bearings with being topside. She had almost forgotten how the ship looked in its entirety when, certainly a welcoming sight that joined the more optimistic horizons.

”Not bad.” She murmured to herself then got to starting her duties.

Strange waters, beyond stranger. were the Akodo's thoughts as he took note of the sea where they were. It just looked different. Of course the last three days in what was technically the Shadowlands would make any difference a good thing. He set about doing this and that checking the tightness of ropes and knots. When he noticed the Bayushi he gave a small bow and a courteousGood morning, Bayushi-san. He did hope to meet the others on his shift more formally soon.

Hoshi returned the greeting in kind with a bow of her own, speaking with some warmth behind her mask. "Ohayou gozaimasu Akodo-san. A fine morning ne?"

"It is certainly less dreary." came the reply. "Which is a welcome change of pace. From the last few days. Don't you agree?"

There was a glint that went to her eyes as she glanced at the entirety of the section they were assigned to. "I don't think it's something that needs to be asked really. Anyone who thinks otherwise will find themselves in an odd place with the ship's crew....Now let's hope the Heaven aren't particularly feeling creative..."

"I'll consider it asked and answered then." the Lion said. "Seems we have roughtly the same job by the look of things."

"Hai, if we were to only consider bare names on the list Akodo-san. I had a sense that it would work out this way, duty is duty regardless of the title." She turned to give glance toward the command cabin and looked back Amuro. "If you wish for consolation...We do have the distinction to be closer to the captain than everyone else. But only literally."

"Please do not mistake my comment, as dissatisfaction, Bayushi-san." the Lion said, giving a small smile at her joke. "I am not much a conversationalist, somedays. I meant only to highlight a fact, not make commentary upon it.

Hoshi lifted one hand in a quick apologetic motion with a chuckle that matched the lightness of the situation. "Nor any fault of yours, we aren't in a court. Gomen Akodo-san, only a mere coincidence of ours that my words are interpreted so. I only meant to highlight that fact as well, as there is a greater responsibility in being here even if you are just a part of the watch. "

"Hai." he said looking up towards where the Captain stood. "There is much honor to be was is essentially the bodyguard of your commander, should combat require such. I have no dissatisfaction. I am curious to meet our compatriots in this shift, though. I know not much of them."

"That's the second time you mentioned 'dissatisfaction'...Akodo-san." Hoshi pointed out and shrugged as she moved on to another topic. "Hai. I only met with Yoritomo Kaito-san briefly, who finds some interests in being a part of people's conversations himself."

So it is. the Akodo said nonchalantly dropping that subject. I only briefly spoke with him. I'm looking forward to seeing him this morning, see if my first impression holds.

Perhaps it was by some small quirk of fate then that Kaito wandered into view a few moments later. Likely though it was because he had to get to his duties about the same time as the other too. Bowing politely to the others already here working he flashed a smile.

"Morning Bayushi-san, Akodo-san."

Hikaru stands near the railing and looks out over the waves just watching. That was his duty and he would see it done. He is silent and keeps to himself unless approached.

I find it so. Thank you Yoritomo-san. the Akodo tests a knot in a rope by pulling gently. Seeming satisfied he walks a pace to another. I was just speaking of you to Bayushi-san.

Find what to be so? The morning to be morning? Thought the mantis as moved to start his duties the foredeck wasn't such a bad place to work though it could be a bit dull in time of battle. "Oh? Was there something you two needed of me this morning then?"

He shrugged. I do not. I was merely commenting that I had only briefly spoken with you once thus far. he would let the Scorpion answer how she wished.

Having heard they were going to be out of the horrible waters soon, Nozomi makes her way to the very front of the ship. After ensuring she is out of the way of those on duty, she sits and waits quietly.

Once the ship passes out of the shadow and into the brilliant morning of the Jade Sun, the Shiba closes her eyes and allows the familiar scents and sounds to fill her senses once more. It was... wonderful.

"That's true enough don't think we spoke much in training Akodo-san and Bayushi-san and myself only formally met a couple evenings back." He replied his eyes studying the sky for a few moments.

Spotting the the young shiba the mantis nodded politely in greeting but let her on her own for now to soak in the sun. Who knows maybe some proper sunshine would help her grow.

Yes that is true Yoritomo-san. Amuro mentioned giving the Phoenix nearby a curious look before returning his gaze back to his compatriots. Any recommendations on the most efficient way to go about our work? After all I believe you said you have served aboard a ship before.
