[Day 1 – Early Morning] Duty

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi glanced away as a glint went to her eyes. "That's very generous of you to offer Yoritomo-san. I never knew that you were a cook with skills to boast about."

[Akodo Amuro]

Amuro had busied himself with some work so as to not seem too much a eavesdropper. He had no opinion about the work besides a willingness to do it, even if it wasn't what he was used to or preferred in assignments. He smiled amicably as they all bantered in what could easily be confused with nearly a court sessions worth of favors and gifts being bandied about.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Oh I don't think it's much to brag about Bayushi-san I know my way the kitchen a bit is all." He flashed a grin as he busied himself with work.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Yoritomo-san is looking for an excuse to cook. If he was more vocal during training, he could have found himself in another posting." Hoshi said in an off-handed comment as she went off to do likewise away from Kaito, giving a nod to the Nozomi. "Ne, Shiba-san?"

[Akodo Amuro]

It took all of the Akodo's training to keep from smiling at what he perceived as a bit of a slight towards the Mantis.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

The mantis chuckles slightly at the Bayushi's comment but leaves it at that the little lady didn't know a thing about ships.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi seems pretty thrilled by the Mantis' offer. "R-Really? That w-would be wonderful, Yoritomo-san. M-maybe one of th-these days you can t-teach me a thing or t-two..." Her small pink tongue flicks lightly over her lips, imagination already stealing away to envision a dinner table filled with mouth watering things to eat.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Shouldn't be a problem Shiba-san as one can't exactly cook on a ship alone after all." Was the mantis's reply as he busied himself with his work.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi alternated a glance between Nozomi and Kaito then pushed off the railing she was standing by. She approach Amuro who was quiet for most of the scene, likely for a good reason. "I hope everything is holding up on your end Akodo-san."

[Akodo Amuro]

(terribly sorry Thursdays was not a good internet day.)

He gave the woman a modestly warm smile at her greeting."Yes, of course Bayushi-san, could you put some leverage on that rope while I re-tie this knot?" he asks spotting one that was slowly loosening from the wind. If I am silent, it is because I just enjoying listening to the wind. his eyes dart briefly in the direction of the Mantis as he speaks.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

“Mm.” Hoshi gave a few nods as she approached the rope in question, lending a hand out by steadying the rope in question. “There’s nothing wrong with silence Akodo-san. For a moment I wondered if we were too chatty to your usual setting. Fun is fun until there’s work to be done ne?”

[Akodo Amuro]

"Very much so, Bayushi-san. I will admit that I have never been much of a conversationalist in most settings. Just a fact that I rarely had time when it work wasnt needing my immediate attention I fear. he set the rope again carefully and gave it a test tug. "That should do it."

[Shiba Nozomi]

"Shouldn't be a problem Shiba-san as one can't exactly cook on a ship alone after all." Was the mantis's reply as he busied himself with his work.

"I suppose you're right. I've been meaning to learn a little..." She really had... and this trip she was already being far more adventurous than her last. This time she was setting foot out of the sickbay for more than just sleeping and eating.

Looking at the Mantis curiously, she asks,"D-Do you cook, t-too?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Very much so, Bayushi-san. I will admit that I have never been much of a conversationalist in most settings. Just a fact that I rarely had time when it work wasnt needing my immediate attention I fear. he set the rope again carefully and gave it a test tug. "That should do it."

Hoshi nodded and released her portion of rope. "You can't be working all the time Akodo-san. Sometime it's just not possible when you're bound to get a lack of it eventually when more than a few of the same ethics in mind."

[Akodo Amuro]

That is true. Still keeping busy and to myself has on more than one occasion kept my minds off other topics. And sometimes checking that map marking a fourth time, or inspecting the horses for the third keeps one's mind from turning that direction.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi gave a few nods as she crossed her arms. "Would you consider yourself a rarity in the Lion Clan Akodo-san?"

[Akodo Amuro]

"In many ways, and yet quite common in others." he replied. I was always a diligent, and duty minded individual, though I was perhaps a bit zealous and more individualistic. The last few years have done much to reinforce those first two traits, over the latter two. He went silent for a moment after speaking. What of you Bayushi-san. How would you rate yourself compared to the typical Scorpion."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi held out a hand in an apologetic motion, "-Ah, gomenasai Akodo-san. I didn't mean to ask such a question out of context. I only imagined that every military career who eventually demand conversation, even be it among your fellow samurai in a unit. Whether or not your way has worked out for you...that's something I'm not responsible for knowing best ne?"

At her own question, she shrugged. "Me? I do alright. Or if I were to go by what my gunso would tell all of his nikutai, never enough."

[Akodo Amuro]

"My way has worked fine, from my view. It is simply the fact that one can only do so much, in regards to the strengths of others." The Akodo said simply. "I am not without true friends, but they are few and far between. We say 'Every Akodo is my brother.' and it is true, but brotherhood doesn't require you to like each other, just depend and trust each other. he says simply.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito raises an eyebrow slightly. Hadn't they been talking about it just a moment ago? "Hai I know a little about the kitchen Shiba-san. Decided to learn how a couple years back after we lost our own cook and had no one else that could." He said grimacing slightly at the memory. "Never ate worse in my life then in the 11 days it took us to get to a proper port."
