What about the Enemy Ship?

Alright. As some of you know. There is an enemy ship in the harbor, and the Ivory Kingdoms do not quite have the men to pull off a successful assault on their own. They will be coming to Rokugan for assistance in this venture. Will the forces of Rokugan work to defeat this enemy? Or leave the Ivory Kingdoms to attack this ship on their own?

Are we allowed to make a discussion of this?
Or is it just a plain vote?

Pros
Action thread
It'll spark some posting on the forum after a slowdown
We get to stick it to the filthy gaijin hordes
Cons
Action thread
Those that are left and probably want to take part are in widely different time zones
Could get bogged down and delay the rest of the threads/game
I'm divided. Going to take some time to think on it. Much as I'd like to see Qian-Fan rain down death on heathen cultists, I wouldn't want the game to be stymied by a long combat thread. I've seen them kill games before, but I've also seen them make a game (with 2/3 of this current GM team for those who remember KT).

I think in game it'd also make sense for us to attack. It'd give the troops something to do when morale is a little low and everyone is a bit bored. More importantly it'd increase ties with the Ivory Kingdoms after a certain incident and would show good will. It would also be a chance for Rokugani samurai to show off their skill at arms and EARN respect from the Rhumaali people. "Let us remind you why it is good to have us as your allies and not as your enemies".
Sure, loss of life is a con. And fighting is a con for your pacifist types. But we are the Legion. A bigger con would be whether it is appropriate to use a Legion ship for such a thing - is it a political action that will aid AND protect Rokugan or just some friendly gesture to an unimportant neighbour that is doomed anyway?
I think no matter what though that some should help - even if the captain discretely just asks for volunteers to assist. I can guarantee Tomoe will be up for some action ^^. Personally I would rather she just sit about somewhere safely but that isn't what she is like.
What do the rest of you think? Overall good or bad to storm this ship? I will point out that we may have had our first samurai death in another thread. When information about that spreads I bet it will anger a few others!
I do have one concern though - how can the authorities not have enough men for this operation? What a bunch of crap! It's their harbour and they have troops everywhere!

They could be trying to weaken us!

I'm surprised it's been floating for so long. In Hoshi's mind, we've already stirred up the hornet's nest to not get noticed. Better safe than sorry! Death to the would-be enemies of the Empire! Me? I'm fine with majority, long fight is long though.

Well, count me as a yes. I think it would be an interesting way to spend Day 7...or 8. Not for Junpei mind you, but other people.

Yakusoku could go for killing something. Though she's also going to be in the camp of people wondering how its possible that the locals, who outnumber us so vastly, can't put together enough people to storm a single boat. Still, the Badger isn't going to pass up a chance to actually kill some of these barbarians so I'm voting Yes.

Are they samurai? Nope. Are they likely to attack us on the high seas when we leave? Yup. Should we nip this in the bud and murder their crew and set their ship on fire, sure.

You forgot appropriating some of their more valuable goods, using the whole event and any left-over heathen goods we don't burn as leverage to get more from the Lankan authorities as well as earning some glory and honour for ourselves. I mean, the enemy would count as bandits. Each kill is worth something!

Looks at his family name... I don't think I forgot any of that.

So it's not allowed to set their ship on fire and then kill them as they try to escape the death trap?

The problem with that is they can jump off the ship and escape into the water that way. If we kill them first, then set the ship on fire, we are getting rid of the bodies at the same time as the ship.
