At 4'10" and just a bare touch over a hundred pounds, Suzume Satsuki is not what one normally expects from the look of a bushi. Her face looks rather younger than her nineteen years, emphasized by the cheerful, open, guiless expression that normally adorns it. Her dark brown hair, sun-bleached from its natural black, is generally pulled back with a white cord for work, and she dresses in kimono and hakama for ease of movement, the sleeves of the kimono tied back with a long strip of white cloth or simply tailored short.

Her manner is open, expressive, and energetic, without even a consideration that someone might think to harm or lie to her. Even in bad circumstances, she is rarely without a bounce in her step, though now she knows when to show appropriate stoicism. Overall, her manner is one of a girl to whom life is a big adventure and stangers are just friends she's never met.

Hoitsu would best be described as a jovial sort of man. Quick to smile and share stories with others, he is unlikely to become angry over things that he sees as trivial in nature. In fact he is more likely to become angered over somebody mistreating a piece of equipment than he is insults levelled in his direction. Years spent working with his hands have left him with rough looking skin across his hands and arms, not to mention that combined with his duties as a bushi, his physique is fairly athletic in nature.

Quite quickly it will become clear that Hoitsu loves to share interesting stories about the goings on around him and lore about spirits and ghosts (that he can and will talk about at length for hours). With very little digging, it can be revealed that his wife was formerly a minor imperial. Nobody seems all that clear on whether connections or the inability to be quiet is what got him assigned to a boat for the foreseeable future.
