So did you in fact upgrade your friendly kami to friendly kansen? When it went "It's not your fault your leader is weak giving into gaijin!" I could only think "That's....not a very air kami thought..."

So . . . how did you pull off the flying trick?

Thank the GMs for that one. As if being stabbed wasn't enough, I failed my Earth roll and got 0.1 Taint and friendly kansen.

Child of Chikushudo: Flight (New favorite advantage of all time!)

That's the mechanical reason, the fluff reason for having it is just a smidgen more complicated.

That is pretty cool. Cannot believe you got taint too. Tomoe was lucky to get out of that okay!

Did Junpei even care he left the poor woman there surrounded by angry armed guards? How do you think the scene would play out if the two met again on ship - which they would!

Heh, you were destined to have your head crunched by Musasha one day. But outside of that, what were your thoughts of him, given that our one shared thread was pretty intense?

That's a complicated question really. The short answer is no, he did not feel bad about leaving Tomoe.

The long answer is still no, but for several reasons. The first is that they were clearly not after Tomoe. And even though she was likely to be detained, there was nothing that she did. So, baring some kind of kangaroo court she was going to be fine and Junpei was more or less certain of that. Of course, at the time none of that really mattered. The more pressing reason he was okay with leaving was that Tomoe is a samurai. In spite of O-Washi's horrid rape fantasy, being a fully trained samurai means that Tomoe was perfectly fine in taking care of herself. Plus, being a Phoenix, Junpei has a pretty pointed samurai/shugenja dichotomy. Just like in war, shugenja are offered to be taken as hostages rather than killed. A shugenja's life is simply worth more than a samurai's. So, whether arrogant or societal, Junpei thought it best to leave Tomoe since, no doubt, any Rokugani would give their lives to save a priest of the kami. Whether that's true or not in Tomoe's opinion was somewhat irrelevant at the time. ;)

Eh, Musasha was an idiot in Junpei's eyes plain and simple. Now granted, he would still like no one better to guard him in a fight (except Naomi), but in terms of a conversational partner...he was going to go elsewhere. Thankfully Musasha seemed to have a genuine want to better himself, which, at the very least, made up for his obtuse ways.

As for the head crushing...well, I wouldn't be to sure. Junpei has, for the whole game, been struggling over the want for power without corruption. Just like the conversation with Musasha, he knows he will, one day, command great power, but he looks forward to doing it righteously. Honestly, I can't see Junpei ever going above his 0.1, and if he did it would likely be for a truly life or death situation, at which point he would probably go up to 0.2.

That's about what I thought. The only issue with you never getting to .2 is the fact that you do have to make earth rolls monthly, or it does get worse. And with the whispers from your kansen, there are reasons you could end up with it on singular spell rolls.

This is all speculative, however. I liked Junpei OOC, IC, Musasha thought he was arrogant, unbending, and had no understanding of the way things should be.

True on all accounts. Although that monthly Earth roll is at a TN 5, with my Earth going up to 3 theoretically soon, but still...it sucks. Getting the Taint is never fun, but that's how it goes sometimes.

Maybe after the wat Big D could take it back from you or something? He seems to be able to do everything with the taint now. Still, until then, you cannot escape the taint!
