Exodus (topsiders)

Given the rapid and, the unchivalrous would say 'panicked' exodus by your allies, I need to know what actions you would take.

  • Up to four simple actions before flight: Escape scot-free
  • Four to six simple actions: Have to make an Athletics/Agility roll to escape.
  • Six+": You're *probably* going to die.

If you have a question on what sort of action something is, shoot me a PM

Sugita will do lots of sprinting right off the gang plank they set up and take cover. Injuries are going to prevent swimming. Nothing else to be done.

If anyone wants to get noble and follow and/or keep the critters off me, Yakusoku's going to grab Jishaku's daisho on the way out.

Mind you, she's doing it either way so do whatever it is you're going to do. ^_^

"Oh...Bishamon's testicles..." Zenko bent to scoop up Amaya, the ashigaru comrade he'd talked to along with Bayushi Hoshi briefly days before they'd ever came to this land. His footsteps quiver on the gangplank on his way down from the weight of them both.

"Hhnnngg" grunting, the Hare did what he could to not to jar the woman's wounds much, kicking over a barrel on the pier and laying the woman behind it and those standing near it. "Will have to do..."

Not missing a beat, the Hare leaps back to the gangplank, covering the ground in an eyeblink as he ran, jumped and scooted past those coming ashore. Back onboard he nearly falls down the hatch, yelling as he momentarily attempted to defy gravity. "Jaaaayaaant! Get your people Out!"

Stopping momentarily the Hare looks at the daisho being lobbed his way, "Hoshi..." he blinks, deftly grabbing the wakizashi on his way back up and out, narrowly avoiding a collision with the Mirumoto. "Save you a drink!" he calls down to the Hida who'd lobbed up the blades. In this life or the next Hida-Sama.

He tried not to look behind him as he reached the railing, using the upswing of the boat upon the sea to propel his leap, limbs flailing as he bounced and rolled down the gangplank just ahead of the burning shrapnel that quickly catches up and leaves the Hare laying on the ground, clutching his Scorpion friend's wakizashi with a jagged piece of ship in... "Arraaaahgghhh" that was definetly his thigh. At the moment, it distracted him from the burns he'd acquired all along his back, as smoke gently wafted upwards into the mist from the Hare and what of his uniform and armor still clung to his body.

As Yakusoku falls toward the water, the gaijin ship explodes. Debris and flames shoot outward and for a moment the Badger is caught within the might of the blast. Her kimono on fire she falls, landing in the sea with a heavy splash, sinking into the darkness. After a few moments under the water she rises back to the top, sputtering, cursing and coughing all in the same breaths, her voice a bit louder than it should be thanks to the painful ringing in her ears.

After catching her breath she treads water looking around for other survivors. "Someone wanna grab a couple of these 'ere swords? I can't exactly be swimmin' 'round in 'ere with my hands full." Despite her words the woman begins kicking her powerful legs, pulling herself closer to getting out of the chilling waters.

Cursing himself, Zenko uncurls from the position he'd ended up in, reaching to his thigh to tug out the hunk of wood embedded in him.

"Aghhhrh Jurojin's teeth, that hurts," he curses as he stands, kicking the hunk of wood into the sea off the pier. Hearing someone talk, he looks out for other survivors, hobbling some on one foot.

Sugita flees, hobbling quickly off the plank leading to shore. He doesn't bother himself with anything on the ship. He's in no condition to save anyone. Nor would he care to save the only one he knows is in danger. The explosion tears the ship apart while Sugita is already behind the cover of a statue in the harbor. Still, it is forceful enough to knock Sugita off his feet. The pavement comes at his face very quickly.

***Blackness***

The splitting headache from the gaijin magic had only gotten worse with a knock on the head. Sugita had been down for a few minutes, and now he looks about trying to assess the situation. Slowly, he limps out from behind his hiding place, bleeding from yet another hole in his head.

And there it goes. Wow. That didn't feel quite like fireworks. Still, I can't stay in this darkness forever.

Tomoe surfaces next to the Badger, having remained under water while waiting for the explosion. She takes a deep breath and smiles before quickly noticing the woman's bad shape and putting on a more neutral expression. She is holding an extra katana by it's handle and awkwarldy swimming due to that but otherwise looks completely fine "We... need... to..." She takes another breathe. "We need to get you to the medical section. Do you need a hand?" She paused to look around to see if any others made it, even checking for the gaijin. "Well done getting out" Tomoe adds cheerfully, turning back to the woman.

"I think I was on fire for a bit there..." the Badger murmurs in reply, moving to the water's edge and setting down the Lion's blades. Hoisting herself out of the water her shaky, burnt hands move to her waist, slowly and awkwardly maneuvering her katana back into its saya.

"Then we definately need to get you to the medical area". Tomoe follows the other samurai ko, also emerging from the water onto dry land. She offers her arm to the woman "You fought well"

Yakusoku accepts the assistance until she's on her feet. Then, after taking a moment to get her balance, she slips away. "I can walk on my own. Might be some others needin' more help. Thank ya though."

Zenko hobbles over to the waterside, swallowing his own steady fear in order to organize his own thoughts. "Will someone watch my daisho? Looks like there's some swimming to do...in case there's other survivors.."

He frowns, taking his daisho out of his obi before setting it, and Hoshi's wakizashi on the ground next to the water, and then jumping in to swim towards the other bodies he can see floating in the water.

"Come on..." he gasps out after his head comes back above the water, "someone be alive..."

Tomoe nodded as the Badger left. She still didn't know the woman's name. She turned her eyes back to the water, laying the katana now reverently. Really someone else should be rescuing people or recovering things but as I am already wet...

Treading water, the Hare found out that he was much more buoyant in the ocean, then in the rivers and lakes back home. For some reason, that only terrified him more, as it felt like the ocean was attempting to reject him.

Shaking his head as he swam, he attempted to watch for anything more floating in the water, turning his head to the side to get a breath.

Tomoe swam over to the Hare. "Perhaps we can combine efforts" she offered, scanning around her. Bits of the ship were bobbing all about

"Heeehh...." he gasps out, surprised. "Yes, yes. See..." he dips under a moment then comes back up, treading water... "see anyone?"

"No one living at least" I reply, pointing to a few of the corpses. One catches my eye from under the pier. It is pincushioned with arrows but most interesting a faint glint of steel says something else is stuck in it. I begin to swim over "something's over there I think. Someone's weapon maybe?"

"Weapon?" the Hare pushes away the body of one of the gaijin's he'd inspected, finding it face down and not moving. Treading water. "Wood weapons probably aren't all that important." he gasps out a word at a time, figuring out that floating on his back improved things.

"No this, over here" I say, swimming over to the corpse. Yes, a wakizashi. Good, it can be returned to its owner. "This right h..." I stop as I reach for the weapon. There is a long crack running down the wakizashi. I have never seen anything like it. What could have done that? I look at the corpse. It isn't burn or blasted. What in Jigoku? I gingerly tug at the weapon and extricate it from the boby. I have had enough of this. "There are no survivors and this whole place is cursed. I am going back to our ship" I say quite sternly, swimming past the Hare, with the damage blade
