Day 7: Foredeck, Stage 2 - Up and Over

Re: Day 7: Foredeck, Stage 2 - Up and Over

The sight of the Ichiro gaining the Nest was an unwelcome one. The older of the pair of archers took one look at her and the arrow sticking out of her shoulder, the rage in her eyes, and decided right then and there that this was no time to stand and fight.

Without hesitation, the archer turned on his heel and ran the spar, leaping off the end and disappearing into the water below.

{{Archer 2A has left the Battle!}}

From the unseen open hold hatch, another gaijin slunk across the deck*, this one headed for a pile of crates that could provide some cover.

The lurking woman by the rail did not give up her position, despite the battle cries behind her and the splash of someone into the sea. Stealth, after all, was not a gift to be squandered.

The second archer in the Nest looked at the Ichiro, looked at the mast, ad then dropped his bow and drew a dagger instead, launching himself at Yakusoku with a cry of 'Kali Ma!!' that seemed to echo in the strange mist. His blade skittered off her armor and he gave her a look most often seen in the eyes of Deathseekers, a knowledge of death that went beyond mere acceptance to eagerness.

Now this was where Yakusoku wanted to be. She'd swore under her breath when the other man had leapt away. But this one was brave. Or stupid. Probably stupid. Hearing the gaijin cry out what she assumed was a name Yakusoku laughed. "Boy, I don' know who that is, but they can piss off." Lunging quickly at the archer the Badger reaches out with both arms, ignoring the shooting pain from her wounded shoulder. One hand gets a firm hold on the man's wrist, keeping his weapon in check. The other closes in a vice grip around his throat. "Lets see if yer little knife can help ya now!" The Badger spits the words into the barbarians face along with a healthy dose of, well, spit.

On the deck below, the knifeman glared in hatred up at the giant who'd crushed his arm to nigh inusability. The invocation of his dark goddess from above seemed to galvanize the man and he, despite the certainty of death, launched himself against Musasha with an echoing cry. His legs, growing weak with bloodloss, failed him and he stumbled, missing his strike.

Musasha doesn't flinch, or even move, he simply brings the tetsubo from his lower left up over his right shoulder, its arc hitting the gaijin's shoulder armor plate harmlessly as it goes.

In the mist, the gaijin woman continued to wait, her eyes focused on the forms slowly ascending. True , she could cut the rope and drop them back to the sea but that would only delay the threat, not end it.

Besides...she wanted their blood on her blade.

Up in the Nest, the archer struggled to free himself from the Badger's grip, {18} but was well and truly held by Yakusoku {66!} and could do little more than curse at her in impotent rage.

"That all ya got!?" Yakusoku drowns out the archers swears yelling into his face and laughing. Shifting in the grapple the Badger releases the man's arm only to take hold of the back of his trousers and hoist him up as if he weighed nothing at all. "Lets see ya shoot at me after this." With a wicked laugh the Ichiro tosses the gaijin from the crow's nest toward the deck below. "Who else wants some!?"

Looking down onto the deck below, narrowing her eyes to regard the combatants within the fog Yakusoku grins, shifting her gaze between the deck and the mass. I could jump it. Use one of them bastards to break my fall...

The archer hit the deck with a cry that proved he was still alive, though how battleworthy he was remained to be seen. {{14 damage}}.

The wounded knife-wielding man tried again to strike at the big Hida but, weak with bloodloss, was unable to make his way past Musasha's armor, his stance beginning to falter as his legs weakened.

The large warrior, caught up in the foe he faced, did not see those lurking in the mist. {{6, after penalty}}. Musasha's tetsubo drew back and then came down on the hapless gaijin with finality, caving in the man's skull.

Seeing one of their own go down, the hidden archer's lips twisted in a silent snarl. An arrow was set to string and an arrow was drawn and then let fly to sink into the Crab's back {43 after fog penalty} through the gap between breastplate and shoulder. {{25 damage}}

Itsuho makes her way toward the visible archer as she moves over the side of the railing. With the rocking of the boat and the distance, she just moves for now, getting into a defensive position after drawing her katana.

With her back turned, Itsuho proved too tempting a target for the hidden swordswoman to resist. She lashed out with her blade, easily finding a hole in Itsuho's armor {34} and sinking her blade in, using her gathered focus to make the wound a truly ill one. {35 damage}

The dazed archer, his bow left above and holding a knife, stared at Musasha, then the ruin he'd made of his ally. With a cry, he launched himself wrecklessly (Full attack) at the huge man, putting all he had into a desperate strike. {34} His knife pierced the man's armor, though it barely scratched the flesh beneath. {8 Damage}

Yakusoku had genuinely considered the jump. In the end though, she didn't know how many enemies were left slinking about and needed to keep fighting. Picking up the gaijin's bow the Badger leaps into the rigging ropes again, starting to make her way down toward the deck.

Musasha's dead eyes don't see the knife wielding enemy, simply his corpse. His tetsubo easily agreed with his vision (24 vs TN 10), as he swung it from the right against the man's rib cage. Bones crack, and there is a gurgling noise as his left lung collapses (33 damage).
