Day 7: Foredeck, Stage 2 - The Quiet Ones

Nobuyoshi is up first.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

The combat swirling about the ship was like a dance, and the sound of Hoshi's chain a song. Working together, they might be able to show what the Scorpion had really brought to the ship.

Very Risky, but if I pull it off, could be very decisive.

Nobuyoshi springs towards the grappled archer, trying to push himself to the very edge of his training to pull off his most difficult maneuver.


His blade is swiftly driven towards the helpless gaijin, cutting into the man deeply (20 damage). Before the man's fear muddled brain even has time to cry out, the blade leaves a second even deeper mark upon him (27 damage). Only then does Nobuyoshi turn back to see if he's even left anything for Hoshi to hold, or if she's now free to find a new target.

The archer manages to survive the deadly blows, but he does not look at all healthy, and his already minuscule chances of escape from his bonds disappears as his strength spills out to redden the deck at their feet. But he is still breathing.

Jayant turns his attention on the surviving goon, swinging twice at him in an effort to finish him. The black blade strikes in two quick, powerful, and certain strikes. He carves his opponent up and he falls to the shifting deck of the ship, though in the dark and the chaos it is difficult to say if he is still breathing or not.

Rohini makes the question moot however by dispassionately sticking his Talwar through the man's chest while he keeps an eye out for more threats.

As the Usagi completes his own task, and seems to be doing alright, Magam slips into an even more defensive stance to protect himself from any further attacks.

Having finished focusing himself, Chitra strikes out against the enemy sailor, intent on killing the man. But his focus is for naught, as the swift Talwar skims by the man. Luckily for Chitra, he did not leave himself overly exposed in his strike.

Usagi Zenko is up.

Having closed the hatch, at least slowing down enemy reinforcements, Zenko turns to face the enemy sailor. Leaping high into the air, the Hare's fear of missing and splashing down in the sea is forgotten for the moment as his foot strikes well in the man's chest, staggering him backwards a few feet. With an athletic twist, the Hare lands easily on his feet and quickly moves away to let others move in and strike the enemy.

Full Attack: 38-5=33, one raise called for damage. Hit!
Damage: 7
Uses Free Move action to move away from the enemy.

[Akodo Jishaku]

As the sailor tries to recover from the Hare's foot in his chest he comes torso to blade with 3 foot of Akodo steel. Jishaku moves in for the kill, aiming to put the enemy sailor down. There is a flash,and blood spurts from the sailor's mid-section.

Staggered first by one attacker, then sliced by another, the Sailor turns on Jishaku, swinging his blade with a mighty force at the offending Lion. The blade strikes true, slicing cleanly through flesh as the blade cuts the Lion open for his troubles, returning the favor he had just taken himself.

Bayushi Hoshi is up.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

With the man still breathing in her chain's grip, Hoshi didn't wish to suffer a survivor getting back at them later on in the fight. She finished the archer off with a quick sting of her kama, slashing him in the throat before she dropped him unceremoniously on deck . A nod was given to her cousin in thanks before she went to the ready, prepared to take on the next one with her chains.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Glancing around and seeing that the bushi now had the upper hand, Qian-Fan's hand stopped straying towards his scrolls and he began the complex mantras of calling the kami to his command. The prayer was quick and one he knew without even needing his scrolls. A moment later the mizu kami came to his call and they flooded through Usagi Zenko, knitting together his wounds and soothing his pain.

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

Seeing the remaining enemy sailor putting up a struggle and injuring her allies Tomoe charges over to him with her drawn weapons, bringing her katana down towards his torso in a simple strike that would hopefully finish him while yelling "Just die already!" (Attack roll 28)

The attack luckily hits, dropping the already injured gaijin to the floor unceremoniously. He wasn't moving anymore (27 damage)

END OF ROUND 7. NO MORE ENEMY COMBATANTS IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA

Jayant cleaned his blade on the sleeve of one of the fallen enemies and took a quick look around at the gathered samurai and Ivory Kingdoms troops. There was still fighting going on with the others, but with surprise lost, they had to move quickly now.

"Lets get below deck quickly. There should be one lower deck, and a hold below that."

[Usagi Zenko]

The Hare pats where he was cut open only moments before, confusion for a moment before he looks up and bows to the Agasha.

Zenko nods at that. "Should have someone watch our backs, hai?" he asks, moving to collect his knife from where it was stuck into one of their foes.

The Usagi pulls it out, then cleans the knife, once, twice on the clothing of the either dead or likely to be soon dead enemy. So doing he stands and moves to bow before the gaijin he doesn't know is called Magam. He bows. "Thank you."

He groans a little. "Well, conscripts to the front then." Rolling his neck a little, he moves to open up the hatch.

[Akodo Jishaku]

Jishaku nods, flicking the blood from his blade. "Agreed." First however, the Lion moved over to where he had left his bow. and unstrung it before replacing it in his quiver. He gives the Dragon a grin. "Nice entrance, Mirumoto-san." Katana in hand he readied himself for the next phase of the battle, nodding encouragingly at the Hare as he goes for the hatch.

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

"You are welcome. I hate persistent men" She replied, pointing her head towards the now dead sailor with a sly smile. I then did as the Akodo did, reminded about my own bow, unstringing it and putting it away. There is still fighting elsewhere on the ship I notice while moving behind the Usagi and inspecting his wounds. Well, at least his fears about maho or allied enemy ships have proved unfounded so far. "I would usually say we should assist the others but I hope they are competent enough. We cannot delay as Uptal-sama says. Still, if you are injured then please do not push yourselves..." I ready my weapons as I look at the others, keen to see who will be leading for foray and in general how they are all doing, even the gaijin.

[Usagi Zenko]

"Right. Glory and Honor abound." he turns, smiling to his fellows before drawing his katana and opening up the hatch.

With that, the Hare leads the charge into the depths of the ship, by hopping down the set of stairs in the interest of quickly striking any who might wait below.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

A brief inspection told Qian-Fan that no-one nearby was desperately in need of healing, so he hung back and let the bushi sort out where and how the next move would be made.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Assuming that the order of the charge would be something like: Hare, Gaijins, Lion, Dragon, Hoshi, himself, and lastly the shuegenja, Nobuyoshi quickly gets ready to begin the second part of the invasion which would start hopefully without further delay with the Hare charging in.

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

I watch the Hare charge off. Well, at least the assault has begun. I head towards the doorway after having one last look at the foggy deck.

With a reserved breath, Hoshi wordlessly proceeded below with the others, after the (more)expendables go in.
