[Day 4 - Late Morning - Garrison] Trustworthy Testimony?

Freshly scrubbed and dried, Zenko inwardly smiled, wearing his armor and daisho for the first time since getting on the boat. Let's see...I can't talk to most of the locals, so lets start with the guys I can talk to...

He moves through the embassy compound with the confidence that's been eluding him since being on the ship, and if its not in a perfect straight line...well he has been on a ship for some time now.

With a knock on the garrison door, he sticks his head in, the Usagi mon on his armor, and its, to him, familiar red and white bringing him comfort. "Hello?"

A tall broad shouldered man stuck his head out the doors at the unfamiliar voice. He stops and rubs his eyes when he sees a Hare mon. Was he dreaming? Zenko receives a once over before he's asks in a rather blunt, but friendly way, "Yoritomo Jun, who the hell are you and what do you want?"

The door opens all the way as Yoritomo leans against the frame, crossing his arms. He was wearing some loose, short cut robe over a pair of trousers. It was certainly not Rokugani, though a thin border of white on white embroidery bearing the mons of Clan and Family served as identifiers on the cuffs.

He steps back away from the door to give the Yoritomo room. "Ah, I'm Usagi Zenko, Yoritomo-sama, hohei of the Ninth Imperial Legion under Captain Yoritomo Uminushi, on board the Half Moon." he bows, hopefully hiding his confusion on the man's dress with the motion.

"Its an honor to meet you. I was hoping to talk about this city? I was given shore leave, but don't know the lay of the land at all, nor why there's so many tents all set up everywhere."

"Well, aren't you fancy." Jun gives the Hare another look over and shrugs, moving in to the barracks. "We have a map here. You're welcome to take a look at it. As to the tents, they're refugees. They've been trickling in through the fall and winter. Rumor has it that there's some sort of uprising and the Maharaja... that's like our Empress but less Divine, got killed. There hasn't been a lot of news of who did it."

He walks with a loping gait, leading Zenko into the common area.

Zenko nods at that, following behind the man.Not their royalty then, Hida-san...

"They get along with us being here?" he asks, looking around the barracks as he walks.

"Mmm... what do you mean?" Jun asks, glancing over his shoulder.

"Are there any enemies I should watch out for, I guess? Haven't exactly been out here before, and with all the wreckage we sailed by on the way here, I don't know if its going to be more dangerous then Ryoko Owari during a festival wandering around out there." he explains.

"Pick pockets, cut throats... the usual," he shrugs. "We don't have enemies here for the most part. We're the gaijin here and they don't much care unless we break one of their laws."

Zenko nods at that. "Any laws we're not accustomed to back home?" he asks, picking up the scent of danger along that line of thought.

While waiting on an answer, Zenko spots the addition of flowers to the barracks. Hmm...likely they're stationed here for a very long time. No Mantis or Kasuga ships have come by yet according to the Captain since before last winter...

"Don't bother their cows," he replies with a shrug. "That's the most obvious one that comes to mind."

"Their cows?" he says a little in surprise. "Okay." The Hare nods, a little confused.

Shrugging he gestures towards where they're going, "Any suggestions on interesting locations in the city?"

"Yes, they're sacred and it depends on whether or not you're looking for trouble."

He nods at that. "No trouble that I can't get out of, at least. Kind of curious about their fighting styles, to tell the truth..as well as picking up some foodstuffs for the next part of our journey."

"They're mostly knife fighters. The good ones are as fast as any Kakita. Hear your Captain is a mean hand himself at it," Jun supplies as he looks over the city. "And frankly, Usagi-san, I have no idea what trouble you can or cannot get out of."

He nods, "True enough. Well, I'm not going to easily get out of political trouble, should they have any politics. So who're the people its not worth angering?"

"Knife fighters though...that could be interesting."

He jabs a finger at the northern part of the city on the map. "What's this then? Seems a less cluttered area."

"Best not to anger any of them if you're wise, there's more of them here than us," Jun points out reasonably. He takes a look at the map and where the Hare was pointing, "That's their noble's quarter."

He nods at that, tracing what seems to be the area for it. "It or any other place barred to us? I don't want to venture into some street, and find out it's only meant for cows to walk on it, or some such." He offers a little smile.

"Not likely, but don't be surprised if you get escorted out. You're not wearing Mantis mons see... and foreigners are about the equivalent of eta here, though they call them untouchables."
