[Day 7, Late Morning, Garden] Thinking

[Isawa Junpei]

"Too true, and I've already caused enough complications for one visit." His eyes turned to the various blooms both small and large, taking a moment to appreciate each new kind. "I do hope we leave here soon. Even if this descending darkness did not make it prudent, I fear this crew will soon begin to overstay our welcome, what little of one there was to being with."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"We'll leave when the captain is ready which with things going as they are is hard to tell when exactly. Though I like you would prefer sooner before later." He said a slight frown on his face. "Course that's if they let us go."

[Isawa Junpei]

"Hai, the captain mentioned something about that trouble the other day. I'm not sure I care for that kind of predicament. Would they truly attack us just for leaving? This is their homeland not ours. Let them fight and die for it."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito Shrugged scratching at this cheek for a moment in thought. "Can never tell could be the think that we would be some help to them if we stay. Could be they try to get us to take some of their women and children with us when we leave. Seems to me that Gaijin and the like would do things they normally wouldn't if backed into a corner."

[Isawa Junpei]

"Sadly, it seems, what they 'wouldn't normally do' is something we're unsure of. I try and trust in my superiors, but in so many ways we should never have come here. Sending a group of, if you'll pardon, rookies, especially those untrained to deal with gaijin...bringing them into an already tense situation and then turning them loose. This was a very bad idea."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"We'll apparently it's not so bad most of the time Isawa-san. The captain didn't expect a war here anymore then the rest of us and when he heard about it it kinda forced his hand." Kaito said glancing over at the phoenix. "As for turning us loose in port I suppose he did that but he also said no one had to come if they didn't wish to. I'm sure there are a number of us who've only set foot off the boat a time or two."

He continued a few moments later running his fingers through his hair before he spoke. "Now he could of made us all stay on the ship but he decided otherwise. He likely wanted to see who would do what and who if anyone would bring back any useful information. He does have duty to see us all trained after all and he's not gonna see what we are capable of by having all of us spend the best part of a week lazing about on deck."

[Isawa Junpei]

"It's true, I just...well, I suppose I think of it like this. It is no secret that the Phoenix and the Lion have long held, at best, a detente, between us. The last place I would want to send a gathering of my peers to 'train' would be in one of their courts or temples...at least not with, at the very least, being briefed, and thoroughly, about the customs, traditions, and nature of the lands to which they were going. As we've seen...nativity can exacerbate an already unpleasant circumstance. I do not blame the captain for my own mistakes here on the island, but I think it was...unwise to say nothing about the people here to the crew in general. I hardly suggest mutiny or anything of the kind, simply that it was...unwise."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"A small primer on the customs would of indeed been nice. So I can see where ya are coming from there Isawa-san, can't say I know exactly what the capn was thinking on that account but I don't know the man well either."

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei nodded, more to himself then anyone else, "Who knows, maybe this was a lesson in adaptability as well."

He chortled in a somewhat jaded tone, "You know, sometimes I have to remind myself that we've only been here for three days. In so many ways it feels like a lifetime."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Understandably so Isawa-san, especially with all the trouble we have seen of late." He frowned slightly at his own words trouble seemed to be the only thing in this place. "Course trouble always seems to weigh on a person making em older then he really is."

[Isawa Junpei]

"Between this and the troubles amassing in the empire, I fear ours might be a generation centuries beyond our years."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Some of us might at that Isawa-san. Don't figure I'll age more then a decade or two though don't really want to know what it's like to be two hundred before I am twenty after all." Kaito replied with a wry smile.

[Isawa Junpei]

"May the Fortunes be kind to you then," Junpei sampled another blossom. "I pray they are kind to us all."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"I made offerings to suitengu for just that only yesterday," He said as he watched the man smell the flowers an altogether odd act to the mantis. "I suppose we'll see how well they work if at all soon enough."
