[Day 7, Evening] Rallying the Troops

[Toritaka Punchiru]

Punchiru covers his consternation with another bite.

"I take your point, Captain. Execution is very much your strong point. I will assist as best I can in the less martial maters."

Punchiru bows and moves to the background.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

About to give the Akodo the go ahead, the man stop as he's interrupted by the Crab. Again. He gives the young man a flat look at he states the obvious. Uminushi did little to hide his dislike of the Toritaka and his insubordination, "Yes, do shut up as the rest of us, who have at least held a weapon, discuss tactics and approach. That, by the way, is not a suggestion. It's an order."

"Bishammon save me from idiots who think that reading Leadership makes them fucking tactical geniuses," he turns back to the Lion, "Akodo-san, if you'll take over the briefing regarding Usagi-san's question."

[Hida Musasha]

The big Crab frowns, "With a good pair o' gloves, I ken climb th' hull o' th' ship from th' water, givin' them little warning tha' I'm comin'. Wi' th' fog, that puts me squarely on deck afore they know what hit 'em. Wi' two others, we ken sow some havok ta give th' raidin' party time ta come up th' gangplank."

[Akodo Jishaku]

The Lion nods and steps forward. "Hai Captain." Taking his place at the front of the briefing the Lion looks at the assembled samurai and waits for Musasha to finish before giving them a detailed run down of the size, shape and armaments of the ship in question. It was, it seemed, designed much like their own warship, with two passages below deck at opposite ends of the ship. As for armaments, it seemed to have none that would be of use in a close fight, it's weapons firmly mounted for firing at foes afar and not aboard.

"Of course the ship could be modified from a standard vessel of its size. As the Captain already mentioned we expect there to be approximately 30 plus on board. Observation of the ship tells us that there will be a gangplank access that two can cross at any one time. Alternatively we can climb up the side of the ship."

[Toritaka Punchiru]

Rebuffed and defeated at his own game, Punchiru falls back as indicated.

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko nods. "How close are any nearby ships, do we know if they have allies nearby or not? And are we prepared for them attempting to flee the harbor with us on board? Or should that be impossible?"

The Hare seems full of questions this evening.

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

Tomoe thoughtfully absorbs the information thus far, appreciative for the Lion's efforts and the planning by the captain.

Tomoe looked at the Usagi. Too many questions. Some of them not even relevant to this operation. The broader questions could be left to the commanders to handle. "We can respond to further threats as they show themselves Usagi-san. As for them fleeing... that should be impossible when they are all dead or captured, ne?" She paused before deciding to ask one question, as it had not yet been raised and seemed perhaps more important - at least to her. "Please excuse me. Will it only be the Half Moon participating or multiple ships in this action?" She dips her head to everyone as if apologising for the question in advance.

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko shakes his head at the Mirumoto's observation. "Nearby ships could have been infiltrated by them in the past days, and if they are near enough could even become escape routes for ourselves. Further, if it is maho similar to that which has occurred in the Empire, they may be using innocents from those ships to fuel it. If they've taken over ships near enough, we could be targeted by their maho-tsukai. If we have...let's say 100 feet between us and the ship in this fog, it shouldn't increase the danger to us during the mission. As for them escaping...I am not expert sailor enough to know how much is needed to get a ship out to sea."

[Akodo Amuro]

She is referring to our sister ships Usagi-san. the more senior Akodo said in defense of the Dragon's statements. And I believe that is a fair question to ask. I would also like to ask our Captain. Do we treat them in whole as we would tsukai in our own lands, and kill the lot of them? Or do these gaijin want 'prisoners' the last word came out a bit distasteful.

Zenko's eyes narrow a little, but he nods, "My apologies for not being clear. I was referring to ships nearby to our target, not the ships within our fleet." He gives a bit of a bow, then going quiet.

Fair questions, even if he didn't quite catch my meaning. Pride goes before the fall Zenko. Don't let it take you.

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

Tomoe nods to the Akodo, his observation and interpretation correct. She glances at the Usagi, better understanding his line of thought too. She decides to stay quiet again.

Jishaku waits for the stream of questions and responses to die down before answering.

"There are ships docked near to our target, but not close enough to use them for access Usagi-san. They are not allied with the enemy. However, it is entirely likely that they have allies somewhere nearby, perhaps hiding along the coast. So if possible we don't want any alarms getting out." He looks back at the Captain. "I believe those of us not participating in the attack will be returning to our respective ships to make sure they are ready for action in the event of an attempted escape."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

He observes the exchange, making mental notes. Uminushi allows Jishaku to answer the questions and nods once in confirmation. At the question of taking prisoners the Yoritomo looks blandly amused, "Dead, Amuro-san... this is an extermination, not a scouting mission."
